Hope Obertan and Gutierrez switch sides like. -
He's not a bad captain imo. Put in decent captain's performances in the early stages of the season when Colo was injured, and led the team with his work ethic and Adolf Hitler impersonations when organizing the defense. Everyone just suffered a major drop in form since the West Ham game. With him being the least skilled of the senior midfielders, he began getting loads of stick as we struggled to create chances then. I agree that he's totally out of his depth at the moment, but he's certainly not as bad as some people here claim to be.

Lazy effort, but there you go.

Find it rather sad really that a few seasons ago, we seemed to be a team of captains with Nolan, Barton, etc. How we could use players of their passion and leadership abilities now.

I think Krul's a genuine dark horse like. Maybe young but always seems to go in the right spirit, has the never-say-die attitude and commands his area and back four well for a young lad. Pretty much an adopted Geordie as well.

I wish we had winter breaks. We're in the type of hole that seems to be crying out for any prolonged rest and reprieve.
-
Have an iffy feeling that Colo will be subbed and he'd symbolically pass on the armband to a returning Jonas.

We can make Taylor club captain and Cabaye team captain. As mentioned in the previous thread, Spurs did the same with Ledley King and Robbie Keane. Taylor's really the best option IMO when you're talking about natural leadership material and being Mr. Newcastle, just that he'll be lucky to get 20 games a season.
-
I think he'll come up with a hesitant and a non-straightforward answer that really implies "Yeah, it's true." Like how he reacted to Redknapp's discovery of Ba's release clause.
-
If he is as confident as he presents himself, it should hopefully be just a case of backing him fully.
-
It seems like I've settled for the following: -Coloccini could be pondering a move to Argentina. -He has come up to the club to discuss it. -He has not made any formal request. It's like a transfer deal. The party has shown a "slight interest", and thus submits an enquiry. Not a transfer offer straight off.

Aye, the only ones in our strongest XI who are close enough really. Cabaye though has the tendency to disappear when needed most, so I'd rather Taylor gets it. Albeit in a Ledley King-esque capacity. Taylor who usually misses half a season and who we should be looking to upgrade on? Cabs for me like. That's why I said Ledley King. Spurs split up the role into "team captain" and "club captain" in his time there iirc. Although I admit, even with Colo there, our strongest XI is all-foreign except Taylor. Not sure if I'd interpret that as a sign for a foreign captain, or even more incentive to make Taylor captain.

I think thats fair enough, but his overriding arrogance and patronising nature makes it tough to feel sorry for him. Imo he's the sort to be arrogant enough not to resign when he knows what is happening, we are sinking fast I must say, he never seemed to be a man who knows how to bite humble pie. And in fact, I feel more sorry for him for the same reasons. Too determined to defy that he charges into the fire without thinking things through. He'll just never find a way out of our hole with that, and the circumstances just serve to add fuel to the fire. Pitiful enough case to be in, and an even more pitiful attitude to deal with it.
-
Is it wrong to feel sorry for him? Imagine being in his shoes right now. Your best player has just left. Your tactics that once worked aren't working anymore. You cannot sign as much reinforcements. Games are just coming too thick and fast and many that you hardly have time to go full strength or plan tactics. And just when you sign a player to uplift the morale, your captain rocks the boat when it seemed to finally have peace and calm. Would not be surprising if he breaks and resigns.

Awful lack of leadership in our ranks if he goes. I can cope with loss of form, loss of our most in-form player, injuries to key players, etc. But none of them even have a tenth of the worry I feel just reading these rumors. Just criminal (but ultimately inevitable) if our issues were culminated by a blow to the heart of the team. Please be s***, and if not, at least lead us to safety, Colo. Will be sad to any sinking ship's passengers to see its captain be among the first to jump off.

Player homesick a year after a long term deal. Couldn't have been more FIFA Career Mode-tastic like.
