We'll just have to agree to disagree in this case, as myself and indeed all of our fans believe these are in areas of concern. Defensive midfield is the most pressing concern, but it appears we've been working away at that and it's next.

Posters talking about Manchester United signings in the other clubs transfers thread. Outrage as Manchester United fan replies with his opinion about Manchester United's transfers. Do you want a hug @Nucasol

Mainoo mainly. If Ugarte comes in the midfield is looking very secure for at least another 3-4 years until Bruno needs replaced. We actually bought Garnacho too. One of the rare success stories pre-INEOS. £500k from Atletico. Obviously right wing is very important for you, but Schar and Burn are 32 plus Lascelles isn't getting any younger. Botman might not come back as good as he was before. I think a CB is going to be an important recruit for you in the near future and personally believe Yoro would be an incredible signing for you. Zirkzee I can understand though, as Isak is obviously better and if Wilson is fit he's a capable backup.
-
He's the best. My captain.
-
But again, Yoro won't be coming in to sit on the bench like Hall has. He'll be starting. Official fees say we've signed Zirkzee and Yoro for €104.5m+€8m in add ons. We've sold Greenwood, Kambwala, Fernandez and Van de Beek for €42.5m with €26m in potential add ons, plus extremely high sell on clauses and buy back clauses for everyone except Van De Beek. So our net spend is about £50m at the minute and we've signed two exciting, young but already established players. With these sales and the releases of Martial and Varane, that's £40m a year in saved wages as well. If people are trying to suggest this is anything other than good business, they're beyond delusional.
-
What approach KaKa? Signing young but established players in positions we're short in?
-
Yoro is going to play. Hate all this chat of how Newcastle aren't in the position to do this and that as well. You've already spent £65m on understudy full backs have you not? We have to sell the same as you and are still dangerously close to breaching PSR. Greenwood, Kambwala, Van De Beek and Fernandez have all been sold and with Casemiro likely to follow. Listening to offers for McTominay as well.

That's because I'm on here 24/7 with my rod in my hand. I'm fishing sometimes as well.

Small club mentality if you change the thread title Mike.

167 pages lads. Clubs far too famous to be merged in with dossers like Spurs and Everton.

Are we comparing a 27 year old flop who has barely kicked a ball in 3 years to an 18 year old generational talent? You want some of this concrete TJ?
-
Potentially yes. Technically speaking, we outclassed the best team in the world in our last game, so we're currently the best team in the world. He might want to keep that momentum going

Don't try and take my internet friends away from me Coco.

Zirkzee and Hojlund is fine for the striker position. Garnacho is quality, and will get better and better. Just hope he plays on the left instead of Rashford. Definitely need something to happen on the right wing mind. Sancho is back, but could be a PR stunt to strengthen our position with him in the market. If he's sold I'd say we'll sign a right winger as a replacement. Cant do it all in one window though. Patience KaKa.

If De Ligt comes in then he'd start with Martinez, and then Yoro would be the next rotation option. Yoro will 100% play ahead of Maguire, trust me. Only reason Maguire is still at the club is because he didn't want to go to West Ham.
-
No way is Maguire first option off the bench. He's not great. He might have played well as you said, but he's not good enough. Martinez first choice obviously but you need depth. We had Casemiro and Jonny Evans playing centre back together last season. At the minute Martinez and Yoro would probably be the starters but you don't want an 18 year old playing 50-60 games a year either.
-
£34-35m for Zirkzee and £42m + add ons for Yoro. I'd imagine that's all we could afford without sales. But we've sold or are selling Greenwood, Kambwala, Van de Beek and Fernandez for about £40m + add ons. So that's probably enough to get De Ligt in as well? We're also saving £36m a year in wages (disgusting) just from releasing Varane and Martial. So is that a factor for transfers? Honestly no idea how the budgets work.
-
You edited your post and added it in after. I didn't see it.
-
Just wait until the add ons are confirmed and what they actually are. Either way, we've paid £42m up front. Less than what our derisory offer for Branthwaite was. For some reason you're trying to suggest that all the add ons will be simple to achieve, which is based on absolutely nothing. Just enjoy the signing gdm. You'd be waxing lyrical if you signed this guy.
-
We'll still be after him, we just need to sell now. Couldn't afford to be dragged into a saga for the summer so had to get at least one centre back in early.
-
The contract is very reasonable IMO. We've made a bid and contract offer for an extremely high rated player, and he has accepted. It's as simple as that. Under no illusions he'll likely want to move to Madrid in the future, and just have to hope we sell well. Worth noting Varane was on £300k+ a week. Yoro's transfer fee and wages spread over the duration of his contract = Varane's wages. It's sound business for a player who's resale value should be much higher than Branthwaite's. Stop making up figures man. It's £42m rising to £52m with add ons. That's €62m in total if all add ons are hit. Our latest bid for Branthwaite was £45m up front + £5m in add ons and was dismissed as being far too low and you found it to be a joke of a bid. It would have taken £65-70m for Branthwaite. This is a no brainier.
-
We've spent less. and not sure if you're aware but your value is higher the younger you are if you're already established.
-
You were criticising us last week for only offering £50m for a 22 year old with 40 games under his belt. Yoro is 3-4 years younger and is £42m + add ons. I think most people need to understand that almost every players preference will be Real Madrid. You think Isak, Bruno G etc. want to play for Newcastle over Real Madrid? Of course not. Garnacho, Hojlund etc. if the opportunity came to go to Madrid they're not saying no, but that's not to say that you shouldn't sign them and play them in the first place. We're signing what people are describing as a generational talent on a 6 year deal. If he's great for 6 years it's well worth the money, and I'm sure the people in charge now will be smart enough to not lose him for free. It's a positive signing.
-
From what I'm seeing it's €7m a year +€2m in bonus add ons. Works out around £110k per week base? It's a high wage for a teenager but don't think it's ridiculous.
