  1. The financial side of things is such a huge factor now. He's 18. If he comes to us, plays well, and Madrid want him then so be it. He'll be on a 6 year contract and they'll pay through the nose for him.
  2. 🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Anthony Gordon flying to Liverpool to take medical + finalise personal terms after #NUFC accept bid worth £65m + add ons. #LFC
  3. He did OK but made a good few mistakes. He's refused a new deal. Only a year left on the contract. Happy with £8m to be honest given that he wouldn't have played barring a similar injury situation to last year. Happy to keep Evans for the year and shift Kambwala to raise some funds. Glad we're not paying £70m for him. Well hopefully anyway. Seems like we've learned our lesson. De Ligt for £42m is the sort of business we should be doing.
  4. Our prison 11 starting to look pretty tasty.
  5. Nah definitely not. Injured loads, then when trying to get to match fitness got injured again. Basically a write off season for him.
  6. Brilliant to have Jonny around for another year. He'll be sixth or maybe even seventh choice, so let's hope he doesn't have to play. Fingers crossed for a season without an unprecedented injury crisis.
  7. He hasn't. that's like me saying how has Tonali gone to shit. Guy played about 500 mins last season and is being written off. Nothing but a bit of hopium from opposition fans.
  8. No I think it was more as a replacement for Eriksen. The vision was Casemiro, Mount and Fernandes, but Mount is capable of playing in many positions if required. Mainoo is obviously the best midfielder in history now, so Mount is a backup to three or four positions.
  9. But we literally have nobody else who can play there. You can't have only one player in a position if you want to be successful. We've been very lucky that Fernandes is extremely robust but you need to have a backup plan if he isn't available. With no Mount that's probably McTominay who isn't good enough. Mount can and has played three or four other positions as well so the signing made sense from a quality depth point of view. I think you'll see a lot more from him this year if he can stay injury free.
  10. Ole just never wanted him and then subsequent managers never trusted him. He's maybe just not very good. Career completely ruined at us though aye.
  11. You're missing the point, and once again using hindsight as a means to an end. Had we signed him and played him and then a year later sold him for 500k, then aye fair enough. But as you said, he's been ruined, is a shell, and is just dead space on the squad and in wages. He was out on loan with options to buy and we had no takers. Was fully expected that he would leave the club for free once his contract ran out. Now we've got a guaranteed half million up front, 4/5m in add ons which Romano suggests are easily achievable and will be paid barring injury, and a further 9/10m on top of that if he actually rediscovers his form from 19/20 and plays well. He didn't exist to us anymore. Just £7m a year disappearing down the wage hole. Fairly baffling how people can't see how we'd be happy with it to be honest. I can't believe we got a fee at all.
  12. For a large period he was barely playing and wasn't doing very much. Source: had him in my fantasy team.
  13. I actually thought Donny was in the final year of his contract and was going to leave for free in the summer. So aye, happy with the deal. He'd have left for free previously.
  14. Rising to £14m with add ons, depending on how he performs, which was left out. It's a good deal given where his career was. He was destined to leave for free. £7m in dead wages off the books as well.
  15. Hojlund just had the best season of his career so. 21 incoming.
  16. Zirkzee done. Sancho on loan to Juventus looking very likely.
  17. Still find it incredible that the Glazers charged the club £30m to facilitate a sale which benefitted the Glazers. They're absolute bastards man.
  18. Guys can we stop talking about Man United all the time please. I think we've had enough for today.
  19. Just wait until the season starts.
  20. This is a good post. I've said it before though, I'll blindly defend anything based on how the criticism comes across. I would defend a lot of those signings even now as most of them were in great form at the time and played in positions where we were very short in quality.
  21. Ban me if you like, I don't need this place. My life is extremely enjoyable and fulfilling.
  22. Think a lot of Man United talk has a leaked into other threads all joking aside. especially with the Ashworth situation as well. It'll die down a bit.
  23. It's always been like this. Granted the Man United talk has increased since you became somewhat competitive and won the 'We finished above Man United on goal difference while they won the FA Cup and knocked us out of Europe' trophy.
