Who was that, Chris Wood. He'll be some use in the Championship no doubt.

It doesn't give me any pleasure in any of this, it's extremely disappointing that we have been such an unsuccessful basket case of a club for pretty much all my lifetime, I'm 65 now. The new owners are the last chance for lots of us who have followed NUFC for so long to finally get it right and just win something.

Newcastle last won a trophy in June 1969, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. So many teams in English football which have won a major trophy - the league, FA Cup, League Cup, European Cup/Champions League, Cup Winners Cup, Uefa Cup/Europa League - since then. 138208672551 Here's the full list. English teams to have a won a major trophy since Newcastle Sunderland Middlesbrough West Ham Southampton Stoke City Wolverhampton Wanderers Derby Coventry Norwich Aston Villa Wigan Luton Wimbledon Nottingham Forest Oxford Portsmouth Sheffield Wednesday Swansea Tottenham Hotspur Birmingham Blackburn Chelsea Ipswich Leeds Leicester Liverpool Manchester United Everton Arsenal Manchester City

I think we can all admit we are and have been a terrible under performing club for the best part of 50 years with a couple of good seasons under Keegan and Robson that were enjoyable. How many clubs have won something since we last did?
-
Newcastle aren't worthy, we are piss poor abomination of a club and have been for most of our existence, since the Fairs Cup win anyhow. We were interesting under Keegan and Robson but still won fuck all.

I always thought Bakker looked good for PSG but they obviously thought he didn't quite have what they needed

Belgium forward Eden Hazard wants to leave Real Madrid, but is not interested in joining Newcastle, who have had a £41.3m bid for the 31-year-old accepted by the Spanish club. (El Nacional - in Catalan) Who knows how reliable this source is, but I really hope that we didn't offer that much (or actually anything) for Hazard, if we did we really have a bunch of idiots in charge of recruitment.

Newcastle United have offered a fee of over 30m euros (£25.1m) for Atalanta and Colombia striker Duvan Zapata, 30. (Daily Record) Belgium forward Eden Hazard wants to leave Real Madrid, but is not interested in joining Newcastle, who have had a £41.3m bid for the 31-year-old accepted by the Spanish club. They probably are embarrassed, let's face it we all are.

Woods is only useful in 1 system and that's not the way Howe plays. It's a most useless signing unless the plan is to bring in another manager and hope that he might be effective in the Championship. He's not a 1 in 3 player this season.
-
The way Wood played on Saturday I doubt very much Burnley are pissed off at us.

Newcastle United are considering launching a bid to sign Paris St-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas but the Ligue 1 club want to keep the 35-year-old Costa Rican and are keen not to let him move. (RMC Sport via Mail) Manchester United's Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek, 24, has rejected a loan move to Newcastle because of their position in the Premier League table. (Telegraph - subscription required) Newcastle are making progress in their attempts to sign Sevilla's 28-year-old Brazilian defender Diego Carlos. (Express) However, the Magpies have failed in their bid to sign Dutch centre-back Sven Botman, 22, from Lille. (90min)

They do and it's on Howe that he's trying to get them to play in a way that they can't. We can only play counter attack with the players we have, Rafa knew it Bruce knew it, but Eddie I want to play nice possession football Howe doesn't. He's going to get us relegated. I personally hated watching Rafa's anti football but it worked and if he was in charge now we would stay up.
-
If I owned the club I would sack him, then again I wouldn't have given him the job in the first place.
-
Maybe a slight overreaction to that result, but Howe is completely out of his depth and should never have been given the job, Trippier is way way past his best and his positional play is really not very good, Wood well we knew he was limited but that performance was so innocuous he might as well not have played. We have two weeks to buy a new team and changing the manager wouldn't do us any harm.
-
That's very poor from Dummett and Lascelles
-
Shelvey even by his poor standards has been diabolical.
-
He's been pretty good, Shelvey hasn't.
-
We certainly don't look any better than they do and their signings look as good as ours. If our owners are serious about us staying up they need to go and drop a lot of money in the next two weeks including a new midfield and a striker who can score some goals.

Joe being Joe couldn't score in a brothel

No only is ASM a big girl's blouse he's a fucking liability with his decision making. We are giving Watford chances

Howe rarely deviates away from starting with a traditional back four, using it in 86.3 per cent of his matches as a top-flight manager. He is not afraid to switch things up as a shock tactic, as he did when beating Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in an unfamiliar 3-4-3, but in general he prefers 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.
-
I agree it's a risk, it's not just a LB we need it's also two good CB's. My point was that Howe is pretty inflexible with formations and tactics and he's virtually never played 3 at the back in his 10 year career so he's unlikely to do it now. He's rather play Richie there than a 3 with wingbacks.
-
Howe has shown throughout his career that he is not flexible with team formations.
-
I'm sure agreeing on relegation clauses with potential players is proving to be a huge problem. Trippier and Wood are both over 30 and the kind of money they are on probably makes up for a season in the Championship if it comes to it, but these young ambitious talented players we are being linked with, will all want out if we go down. Imagine trying to come up with an acceptable agreement with them.
