I think if you are throwing the word Elite around and any team in the world then yes I’m judging by high standards. Probably add Lebandowski to my list also. The players I mention can do both. That’s why I think they are elite. If you think VVD and Saliba would pocket the four I’ve mentioned then so be it.

Strikers… CR and Benzema are in the elite category for me from the last generation. Kane previously also and despite my concerns of his legs going he’s doing his best to prove he’s still in that bracket even if I think he’s fell out of it. I don’t watch loads of football but happy to discuss the merits of each individual player who anyone thinks is an elite striker but not sure there’s many this generation. If it makes my fellow NUFC fans on here happier as you are so precious about it I’d only rate Mbappe a B if that helps with perspective. Of the players linked to replace him I’ve not seen enough of Delap or David but I don’t rate Sesko the times I’ve watched him as a striker. No doubt has maybe the aspects Isak is missing without having the ones that Isak does. @SteV Messi is just under 20% of his goals with his RF. Drops (13%) if you add penalties and free kicks which I personally don’t count in such a judgement. * Still awaiting anyone to pull apart my balance scouting report 🤷🏼‍♂️ Think the mistake people are making is assuming every era has to have elite players. Look at his footballing journey. Multiple opportunities to shine and be snapped up well before we did and even then there were doubts. I hesitated about adding threat from long distance but Liverpool goal aside you could probably chuck that into the debate also. He’d still be the last player I’d sell because he scores us goals and to replace him would be a gamble and very expensive. Am I saying that much wrong giving him a B 🤷🏼‍♂️

Would’ve agreed a few years ago but because of PSR the top teams are thinking no differently to us now. Look at Man City’s last transfer window. Our window of opportunity was when Ipswich bought him. We’ll keep Isak for 12 months and David, Sesko and Delap will all end up elsewhere IMO.

Poor at holding the ball up. Struggles to last 90mins, seems like his race is run after 70mins. Also struggles to be available for a full season so lacks durability. Question marks over his left foot finishing and bravery to put head where it hurts to score when it matters. Other than that he’s excellent. So guessing that works out at a B.

Disappointing they couldn’t see the easy win this summer and stick on 5% next season. With them getting 50-60% increase off 10K plus fans this summer anyway 🤷🏼‍♂️

Isak missing the final now?

Not disagreeing but like every game at top level it’s all about taking your chances. Arsenal we took 2 out of 2 chances away and thinking back 2 out 4 at home with Isak offside and Gordon open goals counting against us. Isak or Schars goals stand, Willock buries header or Burn his shot at end and it’s a completely different game and outlook. Same possibly if Wilson opened the scoring against Liverpool last week. Fans get too high and low at times when ultimately you are following a team in a sport with such tiny margins most of the time.

Since the Euros fiasco. All games at Wembley. Applied even to Gateshead when I went! It’s a pain.

Join the NUST. They’ve arrange a load of events for Saturday and Sunday including watch along’s. Also remember for your mate there’s a ban on anyone showing football on match day 1.5 mile radius of Wembley.

Thats why I have a longstanding believe there will be a compromise. Wherever we finish in the league this season is irrelevant. The players will be told in the summer our ambitions and the team (not squad) will get 3-4 quality additions. Then the clock starts ticking on the project with the aim of UCL 25/26. If not achieved Isak if he wishes will be sold for silly money with 2yrs of his contract left and we wish him all the best. The club haven’t took the approach they have in the last 3 windows to then simply bend over to a player/agent/competing club this summer IMO.

Didn’t used to be. 3yrs is 3yrs. It’s not all about what the players needs/deserves. Clubs are trying to build teams strategically. That’s why they are given contracts. The seeming modern acceptance that a player can do what he wants has massively crept in to the football fans psyche. As if they’ve almost been brainwashed constantly for years from pundits all associated with the “big 6” or journalists turned broadcasters due to paper sales dying and the public profile of players agents and other grifters rising. Funny that…
