  1. Man Utd could probably behead one of our players in the box and it'll be waved away.
  2. Basically we shouldn't be looking at Watford or Burnley and thinking "are we better than them?" We need to be looking at the predicted points tally for relegation and thinking "what do we need to do to guarantee we hit that as an absolute minimum."
  3. Eh, we can use statistics from previous seasions to indicate the odds of the points we will need. It's fruitless to obsess over the results of teams around you in december because the teams around us can also strenghen and kick on. I mean it's nice not to be bottom of the table but ultimately it doesn't change the fact that we will be required to reach a certain point threshold by the end of the season (of which we can get an indicator of looking at statistics). If we don't strenghen massively I cannot see how we stay up outside of pure luck tbh.
  4. That isn't how it works though. For all we know Nowrich, Watford and Burnley might finish mid table. Obsessing over other team results at this stage is fruitless tbh. Statistically we know how much points we need and there's no chance we'll get them without massively strengthening the side.
  5. We essentially need to turn ourselves into a 'consistent mid table side pushing for a European place' within a month.
  6. It's a gamble either way but if we don't spend big we're down like. Obviously a couple of loans could help A month or two ago I thought we could have afforded to only purchase what what right for the club going forwards also keeping in mind FFP but we really need to get some proven quality in. Like we need a midfielder or winger capable of bagging 10+ goals a season. 2 top fullbacks and an absolute beast of a CDM as a minimum I'd say. Probably a CB and a keeper to make sure of it. Edit: Oh and another striker wouldn't hurt.
  7. It's mad how reading 1 article turns and average Dan into an exciting renaissance man. For me atleast.
  8. https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/dan-ashworth-brighton-england-world-cup-2018/ In fairness the England setup is the best it's ever been so him playing a part in that is promising.
  9. Yeah good read and it explains a lot. How anyone came up with that idea is beyond me like. It makes no sense. Allow the referee to control the flow of the game from on pitch but VAR should interfere with major decitions (red cards/penalties) when he gets them wrong - if the VAR team collectively agree he did so. It's really not hard. Either that or just get shot of VAR for anything other than offsides and off the ball stuff the ref cannot see.
  10. They'll not admit fault so will likely just reiitirate "clear and obvious error" and 'clarify' that off the ball incidents are under the discretion of the officials or something.
  11. Left of centre. Basically played as a combattive midfielder. Could potentially be quite sexy if paired alongside anyone other than Hayden and Willock.
  12. No idea why this is even questioned tbh. Lewis is like for like at best and Ritchie has been shambolic
  13. The only rational I can think is that they're applying a rule from either offsides or red cards to fouls and their internal bias has allowed them to believe it. What that bias is we can speculate but if any of the officials wanted to give that it would have been given, there was no grey area around it.
  14. Having a high bar for penslties would be fair enough if it was consistent.
  15. Aye, I thought both today and Liverpool we actually looked like an actual team. Then a player does something mad like Willock galloping passed their fullback at 100mph into the centre circle allowing him to casually just walk towards our box.
  16. Looks isolated as other than ASM (who's usually the one carrying the ball forward) we have fuck all in support. He's not the kind of striker who wants to be recieving the ball on the edge of the box with 3 defenders around him.
  17. Liverpool had one of the most blatant penalties turned down against us too.
  18. What's this interfering with play stuff Hoddle (and others) are cracking onabout? Like that's a rule for offsides not fouls, aye? I can understand something like that being talked about when it comes to accidental collitions but Edderson just fucking takes Fraser out in the box
  19. I mean I'm not saying having just Jesse Lingard wins us these last 3 games like
  20. I can't help but think that Jesse Lingard would have cracked a few goals in the past few games like. We charge forward on the counter but have no cutting edge coming from midfield and Wilson up top by himself is looking lost.
  21. Happened a couple times before too. Just drop your shoulder against him and he's off chasing shadows.
  22. Mad how Bruce had him for years without realising he was the best ball winning midfielder in the League.
  23. the balls on the officials to let that go man. Also Joelinton's a machine.
