I thought we would finish 8-9th before the season started tbh, purely because doing so doesn't require a great squad and/or a great manager. McClaren's done terribly, worse than expected (and I didn't expect much) but I'm not going to retrospective start rimming Pardew in some vain attempt to point-score. It's pathetic.

Nobody thought everything was Pardew's fault Time isn't showing that he did a better job than we thought of at the time, but it is allowing people to rewrite history. He had a strong squad here and it wasn't until we sold Cabaye that that really changed. McClaren, although I didn't want him and I still don't, has never had that luxury. Obviously it could have been better, ignoring the fact he was complicit from the start you could complain that we were short in reserve, our bench has never been stellar and we've always had 1 or 2 misfits in the starting XI, but nothing close to what we have now.

Zabaleta was an Argentine international and Kompany was one of the highest rated young centre backs in the world at the time. No chance he would do anything when his midfield options are Colback, Anita and Tiote though, he's a run if the mill manager not far removed from Pardew or McClaren.

I think Mbabu for Dummett was obvious, given Dummett just isn't a good fullback and Mbabu at least might be. Dummett should probably be in the centre with Mbemba anyway. The rest is so so, I don't know the fitness levels of the players but I think we'd be better off starting with De Jong than introducing him from the bench where his impact will be probably even less.

I thought it was hilarious when he dallied on the ball for a decent 10 seconds allowing Everton to regroup before playing a simple 5 yard pass to Dummett, then a few minutes later our centre back bursts through the entire Everton midfield to the edge of their box.

we need another striker in January, along with the obvious midfielders and centre backs. Pretty clear Cisse is finished now, we basically have 1 striker, it's mental.
