  1. That might be because people interpret your post in different ways, because they are different people ? If I say "I don't think 8th will be viewed by the media as failure" then that is what I mean. There's no room for interpretation. You'd think. 8th what? Which media? What determines failure in these circumstances?
  2. The bloke's a massive try-hard. The faux aggression, the on camera beer drinking, the wife slagging, it's all absolutely shit.
  3. You're like that Japanese bloke who just flat our refused to accept the Second World War was over.
  4. Bit of a wild swing that mind mate, you could have joined everyone else in the middle and just expect the money to be spent in a reasonable time frame instead of hording it for about 5 windows so we can knock a couple of million off a few fees, all the while playing Mike Williamson and Shola Ameobi.
  5. Seen him in Mcdonalds at 4am absolutely mortal, a day before we played Liverpool away and he was re-assuring me there was no chance we would get relegated... Fucking hell
  6. It's pretty much EXACTLY the same now I think about it.
  7. And buy players. Howay man, it's well documented that Arsenal started out with the same rocky beginnings we have, they were nearly relegated in 1998 as went into the season with 2 recognisable strikers, no wingers, and of course, deployed a young Danny Simpson at right back.
  8. To follow the Arsenal model we'd need one of the greatest managers in the history of the game to be at the helm, not fucking Alan Pardew.
  9. I've got it on good authority that Steven Pienaar was definitely speedballing, not sure about the rest.
  10. We have a better squad (or potential starting XI) now than the one that we came up from the Championship with, it would take some fucking effort for it not to be Not sure how we're on course to do an Arsenal like. We'd probably need a time machine to go back to when "doing an Arsenal" was actually possible, or spend about £500m on playing staff, management staff and facilities.
  11. It's relevant to them staying in the top 4 and winning titles with a ludicrously low, and frequently negative, transfer spend, while their direct rivals spent huge sums, including sums of other peoples' money, just to keep up. Jesus fucking Christ.
  12. Arsenal have consistently been in the top 4 for decades, spanning various eras of the premiership including the current Russian/Sheik billionaire era, their transfer policy is completely irrelevant

  14. I'd happily "tick along like Arsenal for a bit" mind, we'd probably have to buy half of a squad first like.
  15. "Cyber tears at another player purchased"
  16. What, "most people grudgingly accepted our policy was alright"? Ner, people believed our transfer model might have been good until it became apparent that we had little interest in building a great squad and would only purchase players if we could get them on the cheap. The was no begrudged acceptance, why even say that?
  17. Will the profit be used significantly upgrade the first team or will it be bargains shoehorned into the first team regardless of need or tactics? I think the team will be upgraded in much the same way as it has been for the past 3 years, or at least that will be the intention. Like it was last season, where we bought no-one and were nearly relegated?
  18. Our transfer policy is great if you're skint and looking to survive in the Premiership, maybe, between mid table and 17th. It's shit if you want a proper squad capable of achieving anything.
  19. I don't play close enough attention to other clubs to notice how their poorer players are performing but I know Williamson, Best, Raylor, Perch, Guthrie etc.. Have all had spells at the club where they were considered worse than shite then could have arguably been harshly moved out of the team when the regular first teamers have got fit again. Williamson is probably our first choice centre back (even with everyone fit) at the moment for example. I don't think Pardew improved any of those players, they just fit in with his back to basics style of football. Not surprising since they are Championship players for the most part. That is entirely the point though isn't it? They were all looking like decent premiership players, Best had something like a 1 in 3 goal record and I dread to even post this because I am too lazy to search for the posts but IIRC a fair few were suggesting it would be harsh to drop Guthrie for Cabaye at one point. Perch was doing a far better job than Tiote, Williamson in the season we finished 5th and this season was doing really well, Raylor was performing better than expected (I think he would have been really useful this season actually). Give Pardew a talented player and he doesn't have a clue what to do with him, give him a poor to average player and he will get them exceeding most people expectations. I disagree like. Give him a "poor" player and they'll likely be poor. Obertan, Ameobi, Gosling, Smith, Lovenkrands, Kuqi, Routledge, Campbell... Some players have stuck in a few surprisingly good performances under him, but nothing out of the ordinary imo. And nothing that raised them above being decent back-up (hence them being sold to Championship sides.)
  20. Not really relevant, but Ryan Taylor has not been "useful" at all. One of the worst players I've seen for us in a long, long time. He was a part of a back 4 that pretty much got us a 5th place finish He wasn't great at left back by any means, and was replaced by Santon halfway through the season, but to say he wasn't useful that season is being really churlish.
  21. I think it's a bit cliche that Pardew makes poor players play better than they are, or would at any other club tbh. Most poor players have just looked unsurprisingly like poor players under him. Williamson is fairly solid when alongside Coloccini and Leon Best and Ryan Taylor have been "useful" under him. There are many other poor players up and down the league putting in performances for other managers.
  22. He managed him well 11/12, he's managed him shit pretty much ever since. Don't know why that's drivel? Hes literally never ever managed him well He dropped him fir absolutely ages and then Hatem played well ones from the bench so he started playing him for a bit. That's it. "Pards played a blinder"
