If he cant switch things in a couple of hours what chance has he got during a game, explains his s*** subs etc He could have changed it, but what about the players? Would they be comfortable with an entirely different set of instructions, for a different position, a couple of hours before a game? He made the right, if unpopular, call last night. That's laughable, how long do you think it would have taken to tell and coach Cisse to play in his usual position? Yeah, and the others? What others? Sammy, Obertan or Marveaux would have played in Cisse's place. And? Obertan had been playing on the left, in this formation. Marveaux had been playing as part of the midfield three. Sammy is Sammy. If we'd taken Marveaux out of the midfield three, someone would have had to replace him. That would have been Perch. But, wait, Perch was playing right back. So, who do we play there? Santon, and bring Fergie in? Who knows. My point is that Shola for Ba was a straight swap, and the work in training could be retained. If we'd went for Cisse up top, then we'd have had to make at least three other changes. I'd agree that Shola was a straight swap for Ba had he been a player of similar quality. Being a big b****** doesn't justify the straight swap however. Shola's movement (lack of) up front dictated our forward play. The only time he got into a good position he fluffed his shot wide. And? Just because Shola has similar physical attributes to Ba doesn't mean could replace his quality forward play. I really can't see how making this straight swap benefited us in any way last night. It was a defeatist move by the manager. As soon as Chelsea's bid was made, Pardew should have had an arm around Cisse to tell him "right, it's your time son - get out there and do what you do best". Probably ridiculous to say this in hindsight, but I'm pretty confident we'd have won last night if Cisse started in the middle. The amount of fouls and aimless headers by Shola was staggering and hindered us big style. I've already said how I think the straight swap benefited us. You can honestly say looking back at that game that we benefited from playing Shola upfront by himself? The only times we looked like getting on the end of anything was when Cisse threw caution to the wind and dropped into the centre when we were attacking from the left.

Pity he wasn't found before handing our teamsheet to the ref.
-
JFK atleast never tried to pretend he was someone else, there was no airs or graces with him, if someone needed to be called a cunt he called them a cunt.
-
I think Madras is mixing Marv up with someone else tbf to him, probably Casper Ankergren.
-
Drop Tiote and play Marv ahead of Cabaye and Anita when all are fit, on paper there's enough steel and creativity in there to get a foothold in any game.
-
Not come close to his 1st seaon form for a couple of years now. Since his first season, then?
-
Those are exactly the kind of runs Santon needs to be making mind, him and Shola (shudder) done very well to get in on goal like that.
-
It wasn't a half, half chance like. It was a certain goal if he squared it. That's why he's a full back and not a winger though.

Aye Pardew actually admitted to this before the game. He's far too rigid, which makes it even more surprising when half way through the game he starts doing random shite like subbing on Steve Harper for Ben Arfa and playing him on the shoulder of the last man, or some mental shit like that. I'm patenting that change by the way, just so he never ever gets tempted to do it.

The man actually thought the best way to replicate our training plans with Demba Ba in them was to replace said 20+ goal a season striker with Shola Ameobi. This man manages a Premier League club. It's staggering.
-
I'm now 100% certain this is Alan Pardew's substitution/tactic process. He's actually on the phone to a bloke sitting in an aquariam somewhere, coaxing manatees to randomly select 2 players for substitution, and the formation we will then squeeze awkwardly into. Idea Balls

We've got skill, flair and close-control in the squad. Really? In the midfield and attack, I'd say we have three players that I'd call skilful - Marveaux, Ben Arfa and Cabaye. Four if you count Sammy, who's a bit raw. The rest all struggle to keep and use the ball when deprived of time and space. In the absence of two of those players, the balance isn't right. Anita struggles to keep or use the ball when deprived of time?, really? Anita isn't that neat on the ball, in truth he probably isn't that much better than Tiote... who does have it in him to play like an actual footballer, somewhere inside. How many times did he lose the ball today? Is that the definition of a skilful player? Part of the problem with the midfield was that we were spending so much time fighting to keep the ball by playing it sideways and backwards when under the least bit of pressure. Marveaux was the only one comfortable in possession who could lift his head up, take his time and play the ball into the feet of player further forward. Nobody is mentioning skill other than you for some absurd reason.

Just call me out directly if you have to If you can't see that Anita is all about his athleticism coupled with an average level of footballing ability you are blind. That's not to say that he's a bad player, I'm just saying his has his limitations. He'd make a good box to box but he's never going to be a playmaker. What a fucking moron.

Anita is excellent on the ball and Obertan is looking far better recently, even discounting him though, 4 forward thinking technically gifted midfielders is probably more than most.

Ah right, you're on a pointless wind up after a defeat... I'll just leave you to it.
-
He was covering for the invisible 'Perchino'. Sorry wasn't it Jelavic who delivered ? Yes, from the fucking left wing.

Got to listen to a lovely shower of boos at the end there.

Proper hipster substitutions.
