    Yoane Wissa

Since it is review of the season time, I'd put Isak and Wirtz ahead of Wissa as flop of the season. Those two were the Premier League's most expensive signings of all time and are on absolutely massive wages unaffordable to all but three or four clubs. Of course this would mean criticizing the red cartel, so don't expect any mainstream pundit to say it.
  2. Got to be a season low xg, against a team and manager that weren't arsed. Many other defeats this season had mitigating factors, injuries, players suspended, third game in 10 days etc. This was us changing a promising looking formation, playing Burn LB when we know it doesn't work, playing Hall RB with no inkling of it working etc.
  3. Decent contender for worst performance of the season, just to kill any positivity from last week. Pretty pleased its over. Thanks to everyone for running the site and everyone for their comments this season. It was quite good until mid-January, but has been very frustrating/upsetting since. Presumably now everyone in the team who wants to fuck off fucks off. After the last few months, I can't say I feel attached to many of them.
  4. Dunno if their goal was a freekick to start with, but great strike and poor defending after it was.
  5. Oh ye of little faith! Isak's first NUFC season vs. Osula's two seasons with NUFC. PL and domestic cups. No CL, because I couldn't get it to work. It said Isak had "3 squads". Don't see much difference there. Next up, shooting. Don't see much difference here either. Certainly not enough for one to be a "60M+ best prospects in Europe" and the other some "raw" kid you'd sell for 30M. You'd probably have to watch film to know why more of Osula's shots are going in. No passing data on Fbref anymore, but what I could find on WhoScored had Osula with 80.8% pass success rate, first-season Isak on 78% in the league. Again, not "raw". Perhaps we need to start believing what we are seeing! Fbref data is here if you want to play with it. https://shorturl.at/WTWSm Go Willie!
  6. I wouldn't use Villa as a stick to beat Eddie Howe with, but you could use Martinez as an example of what a much better keeper than Pope or Ramsdale will get you. I think its at least five places up a very tight league.
  7. Our goal difference with him on the pitch this season is +8, which is higher than Aston Villa (much higher since that's +8 in only 26 games). 1.5 points per match too, so yes, we'd be there or thereabouts for Champions League qualification had Bruno played more. Ramsey is showing promise but yes, we need more creativity in midfield.

    Nick Woltemade

Great to see him back up front and doing well. Big Nick in midfield was an experiment that failed badly, but credit to him for trying and not moaning about it publically. Losing Bruno placed us in a crisis and in hindsight destroyed our season.
  9. You can't argue with stats. That's league only. In all comps, its 9 vs. 4 scored in Osula's favour. 50% of shots on target, one goal in four shots in all comps, for someone fans call "raw" and "wayward". Only one game to go, but 10 in all comps would be brilliant return for Osula. As is, its 9 goals off under 14 games worth of minutes. Statistically better than Ekitike at the same age. Big Nick now has 12 in all comps, despite a big chunk of filling in in midfield.
  10. Better, but still poor. Chuffed for Nick and Osula, but the rest was pretty meh. Some great moves up the middle first half. Bruno was great until he got howked on the deck and lost his cool. I don't think Lewis Hall is match fit. He's deffo not himself.
  11. Unlucky big Cal. This new formation is creating more, but the same ol' zero control problem remains. They've just hit the bar.
  12. Whatever it is, its very fluid. Ramsey and Barnes both wandering and going central. Bruno bossing it at 8 when we break their lines.
  13. Nuno's sub has come on with a note saying "most points lost from winning positions" written on it.
  14. Making hay straight up the middle here. Very slick buildup play.
  15. Arsenal do it themselves every week.
  16. Its the hope that kills you. For 10 minutes we were back above the mackems. Another weekend where I'll end up hatewatching other teams for a crumb of comfort.
  17. 20th goal conceded after the 75 minute mark in games. Worst in the league, of course.
  18. Only one quick reply in the corner of the screen but that looked like sliding studs up into the back of calf. A straight red all day.
  19. I agree with this, but the comparison I'd draw is with Ekitike. Osula's age and output are similar to Ekitike before he went to the Bundesliga. Drogba was more of a unit.
  20. Not pretty but its a win. First one in the league by two clear goals in four months. Osula was lively and I hope we keep him. Shout to Bruno who had a hand in both our first half goals. That Wissa miss and some of Pope's footwork, dear oh dear.
