Yeah, I thought that was bollocks, as was the criticism of our defence for not covering someone who was offside. Claiming Villa were better than us for scoring an offside goal, getting away with hacking Hall down in the box, and getting away with the Digne red was a weird take. A lot of commentary just seems to be saying what they think casual neutral fans want to hear.

I would be wary of selling any player who needs replacing given our difficulty in recruiting players last summer. The club are in a way better position than when we signed Bruno, but I doubt we'd get that deal done now, even last summer when we could offer CL football. The market has gone mental with the Sky 6 hoovering up talent. Liverpool fans seem to be constantly moaning about Gakpo, so there may be interest in Gordon without this just being clickbait bollocks. Gordon would get their press back to Diaz' level, if nothing else.

Now the anger about the decisions has died down a bit, can we appreciate this as a good performance away at a difficult opponent? You'll have to do this manually without stats etc., because they were credited with an illegal goal. The one stat I'll mention is that Villa's home record in the league this year is W9 D1 L3.

Great win, 11 vs. 14.

There is a god. Deflected in off someone who deserves it after the carry on earlier.

Three yellow cards level of incompetence this.

Great hit from Marmoush who looked clearly onside to me due to the player closest to the camera.

Just poking about on Understat, but I see that Thiago has 17xG for Brentford (he's taken 7 pens). Schade for them also has 8. When he was fit, it was a common observation that Liverpool were not creating chances for Isak like we used to. I think its clear that we are not doing the same for Wissa the way Brentford used to. According to Understat's data, big Nick has 7 off 7xG and Wissa 1 off 2.3. This is a fraction of what Brentford are creating for their strikers. We've only scored four fewer than them as a team, so this relates to playing style as well. (I've been disappointed in Wissa so far, so I certainly get that)

Opta says Liverpool have tied the Premier League record by conceding four winners after the 90th minute this season. We're very ropey in the league this year, but that is the "mentality monsters" we are up against.
-
What denied the goal there was the rules, not the "denial of a goalscoring opportunity". A new situation for them to process perhaps, but one that deserves a rule change pronto.
-
Liverpool only one win in their last 7. We all know who it was against. Now four points and masses of goal difference behind Chelsea.
-
What a fucking stupid decision. It rewards the foul by Szobo. Everyone in that situation should now do it.

Fantastic hit. Atrocious wall for that player.

I can feel my league ambition being reduced to Liverpool not getting CL, even if it means Villa, Man U and Chelsea. I think Isak cost us four points or so at the beginning of the season, possibly six, but that is all. I'm happy with Wolte and Wissa given the struggle we had to sign other players, regret the Wissa injury (and Osula's) and just wish that the strikers we bought could have been integrated a bit quicker in a more settled way. We lost to Brentford because we handed them three, not because we only scored two.

10 goals conceded in three games in eight days, with Trippier involved in at least half of them. These poor results are cranking up pressure on the team, the manager, and the club. Before the Brentford winner, it was looking like another Leeds or a near-Leeds had-a-good-go effort. Conceding so easily and losing the game was very deflating. The stadium seemed stunned.

Painful to watch. Costly too. I thought his grab early doors was probably a pen too.
-
Dropped between the lines a few times but was not fed. If we actually do want a 10 it looks like he can do it.
-
Completely suckerpunched there. Long ball, second ball in empty CM area, easy ball behind AWOL RB, well hit shot straight through keeper. A microcosm of our league season if you like, just when things were actually going quite well. More points thrown away.
-
Very poor from Trippier from the first, who gave him 30 yards and acres to cross. The quality of the ball made the goal. Lucky to not concede a pen of his own. Very poor from Tonali to give it away so easily and leave us so exposed. Shit freekick too, which he didn't have to demand. The rest wasn't good, but wasn't too bad, they play football better, but we had the best chances, and that's a deal I'll take every time. Real uphill battle from here

Bruno! Murph Wissa Barnes. Must be the first time. Best crosser and potentially best moocher. I hope it works.
