I don't know if this is just me, but this looks so performative to me. It's like he's trying too hard to show how much he cares.

For some players, this is true and of course he has the money to fall back on. However, I think he's much more driven. He was already earning a lot here but still tried hard (at times). I think he cares a lot about being perceived as a top player. He wants to win things and he wants to score a lot of goals. Remember when he was in a bit of a barren run here, he was never happy for teammates scoring if he wanted them to pass to him. This is hurting him a lot.
