I think it would be more that it would be a complete waste of time. Ashley's universally despised by our fans and we still couldn't convince people to do what it would take to get rid of him. It took Rafa being replaced with Bruce for a significant amount to finally walk away. This is sadly true. Also no lessons have been learned from when Ashley took over, new owners are being lauded without doing a thing rather than being approached with caution. Remember when Ashley was in with the fans sinking cans?

That's a brilliant read, thanks

Agreed. Very poor taste I thought and I'm a big fan of his. What do you thinks going to happen once the sale has gone through? Anyway he's not linking them he's counter pointing our past against our very soon to be present. He's spot on.

That's a well argued point Yorkie.

It sure the world cup has any weight given the absolute corruption in the process (not just that one obviously)

That’s not true though is it? Yes, it is true. Having spent time there with work (our company has since disinvested, some macro reasoning but also based on valuations), I have spoken to tens if not hundreds of people in their twenties and thirties in Riyadh who are open, global and good people who have studied outside Saudi and want to see and be part of it become a more open and tolerant society, while also being fiercely proud of their country and their religion. Saudi Arabia has a million miles to go to become close to being as progressive and advanced in certain areas as they could and should be if held to Western standards, but if you genuinely think they aren't moving forward in this regard when you look at generational trends, then you've not looked beyond headlines in the last few years. By way of a very obvious example, last time I was there several meetings with big banks and the regulator were led by females. Something this simple was inconceivable until fairly recently. Are they trying to use sports to improve their global standing and become more integrated in the western world? Absolutely. Does this make me feel uncomfortable when associated with my team? In some ways it does, in others I'm fairly accepting that this is cause and effect of broader society these days. Am I going to stop following / not attend games as a result? No, it means too much and it's been way too long since I've been able to truly enjoy watching Newcastle. If this comes off then it's mine and my dad's time to get to games and have some hope while he's still able. If it makes me a hypocrite so be it. It does get somewhat boring reading the standard left sided trope rolled out whenever it can be applied of Saudi (or US, or Israel) bad and evil without any balancing factors for the other sides involved in these proxy wars and nothing more than rudimentary understanding of the underlying centuries of religious and political discourse that have got the world to where it is. It becomes even more taxing watching it played out on a football forum. But such is life. Interesting post

Good post and fair point on the Premier League, but when the UK government welcomes them with open arms and actively encourages trade this is not going to happen and this sort of change needs to come from the very top. Current UK Government position. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/26/truss-admits-uk-breached-court-order-banning-arm-sales-to-saudis-again The government are complicit with them. Can't rely on them to servant benchmark or morality.

Stop being so relentlessly thick for the love of god. Citizen = a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized. Being a citizen of a country is different to running it. Seems you missed my point. Note how I did that without in insulting you? This place is going down hill fast. You said you could come up with a decent argument then didn't. People are so desperate for Ashley to go they are prepared to overlook the fact that we will be owned by people responsible for a hell of a lot of deaths. Ashley was a greedy capitalist fuck who is responsible for terrible working practices in his businesses. Replacing him with people who are morally worse because they might make us competitive is not cause for celebration. They were stupid arguments deliberately. Ok so how about Ashley ignoring social distancing rules at sports direct warehouses (proven with photographic evidence) which put us all at risk, especially all of our elder relatives? Why did he do this? For profit. He's a cunt who is morally reprehensible. The new lot are worse. I don't understand how you are struggling with this.

Still doesn't detract from my point. All those are from this month they aren't looking to change man. Change doesn't come overnight though does it? It's going to be a slow process. No it does not but I'll wait till they've stopped murdering people before I think they are on any path to redemption.

Fuck you, I have dyspraxia you little cunt. Me too
-
Rafa in charge would have me on the hype train as he's would be the heart channelling the money the owners are putting in. Plus he deserves it, coming back to have money and ambition would be sweet as fuck.
-
There's no logic to not hoying Bruce in the sea and getting someone hopefully Rafa in who can start pointing money, resources and intellect at the chronic set up that has created a cycle of mediocrity. The only argument I can think of is the owner's might not know who they want but Bruce is a piece of shit he knows he's a dead man walking and the player's do too.

Alex Bruce talking about something being pointless without a hint of self awareness

Think one of those Leeds blokes failed? It's about money and proving you have it rather than morals I think Pretty much I think
