I've seen both games previous to the Chelsea game exactly like that, hence when we eventually got a win it wasn't a huge surprise to me as i think we've played decent football since the second half of Everton. Against Sunderland we kept the ball but just created nothing, and neither did they but at least we weren't camped in our own half for large periods. Against Man City thought we played better again, actually created chances, just never took them then once again got punished for it. Then against Chelsea created the chances and slotted them away when they came, duly deserved. Was no shock horror even if we all might have expected us to play well but concede once again, this time it all came together. Hope we can give another good account of oursleves against a talented Spurs side, no reason why we can't go there and come back with a decent result. It's the last of our tough fixture period in which many thought might see the end of Pardew but a good performance at Spurs and we've came out relativley well.

I don't think he would have been banging them in as much and I don't think Chelsea would have come in for him if that was the case. That's why he sacrificed the team in order to gain personal success. He wasn't being noticed as much when on the wing, it was Cisse grabbing the headlines. We still appreciated him and could see he was putting the graft in on the wing but that wasn't keeping him happy even though we were winning matches. He knew once back up front he would score goals even if it meant the team wasn't as effective and that he would create interest for a move away for more money. We were just his stepping stone to increasing his bank balance. He didn't care what our result was, as long as he was scoring goals he was happy.

Think it was because we got a draw off them with 10 men? Never a goal like
-
Aye because he would have absolutely no chance of seeing that overturned as it's a red card in the rule book. He thought it was more harsh as the Hull player got away with a tackle of similar nature late on and got off with it. The game is turning quite shit when these are red cards and you can only see more and more being given. It was a silly tackle and he dived in needlessly, yellow would have sufficed for me. Had one our players done it, I’d be feeling hard done by too. The Dossena tackle on the other hand was horrid yet they both get the same length of ban.

He'll be playing against Norwich, don't know why people are going over the top on the issue like we'll never see him again. Pardew has managed Ben Arfa very well since he arrived. He's just struggled to get consistent performances out of him, but tbf which manager has been able to do so? It's clearly no easy task. At least Pardew has kept him happy in the process of trying to get the consistency something other managers have ultimately failed to do.

I'm not crying because we are winning. Start losing and i'll be crying for him back in the side. I still want him in the side regardless and miss watching him but win matches and there won't be tears from me. Others differ, even if we win will say we would have won by more had HBA played and that's Pardew's fault, just opinions. Yeah! This hot winning streak of.....er.....1 that we're on. Smoking !!! Where exactly did I say winning streak? I said in the post before that it's two games, two wins without him in the side so keep that up and I'm not kicking up a fuss over it if we win, winning matches is all that counts regardless of who is playing. If you want to win then moan at Pardew for benching HBA, feel free.

If Newcastle have kept 31 clean sheets since we were promoted, 21 of those were with Willo. Anyone got the stats for how many of those Colo/Taylor were involved in?

Basically what Deuce said.

Battle for 4th thread?

It's hard to argue his case when he's been dropped twice this season and we've won twice, along with him being hauled off at half time and we won second half 2-0. Everyone knows it's wonderful to see Ben Arfa and we miss watching him but as long as we are winning games, it's hard to argue against the decisions being made. And i fucking love Hatem Ben Arfa, us winning doesn’t make me miss him any less because I still wish he would play every minute of every game for us.
-
He couldn't even remember what had happened He was in no position to make that decision himself, should have been hauled off. Although Dawson/medical team did try and he refused, AVB should have done more rather than looking like a man who was wasting his 3rd sub on Brad Friedel.

I think 8 mill pounds was a fair price for a future international centre half, with 2 years experience in the top flight. I was shocked when Cardiff was his destination, thought an established club would have snapped him up. When Mackay was unveiling him on the FL92 show, I wasn't feeling anything angry towards our board because we hadn’t got him or felt we had missed out. Obviously in hindsight that is now looking good value and i would have liked to have him here.
-
Who honestly wanted Caulker in the summer for 8/9 million pound. I can't remember many screaming for us to sign him and being gutted when Cardiff stumped up. 10 games in and suddenly we've missed out on him?
-
Linked heavily with Barca in the summer and they made him vice captain, aye fair offer will do it

You'll have Ronaldo crying here, man. Leave it. We all know he's a liability, end of. I never said he was a liability. I just fear he's getting built up to be something he's not during this absence. I fear people may be a little disappointed when he comes back in and it takes him awhile to get up to speed. Well let's hope he doesn't get back in and we keep performing the way we are. I honestly would love it if i never seen Steven Taylor running over to my corner doing fist pumps to the crowd before a ball has even been kicked ever again. I think he’s alright, not good, not bad. He’s just always capable of doing something completely stupid. Benfica away/City away, he’s never going to learn now, he’s got past the age where he had potential. Dawson at Spurs is what Taylor could have been for us but they’ve both gone in opposite directions. Fans pine over him because he’s a local lad and hates on the mackems, if it wasn’t for this, people wouldn't give him the time of day.

Yeah, the same scouts who bought a CB who wouldn't complement, nor by complemented by our only nailed-on starting CB. We should just spend good money on a proven CB from the Premier League and stop pretending the alternative has any more credibility. MYM was a great buy. Up there with our best purchases of recent times. We know we've got Colo's replacement sorted, it's not easy to replace him but we've found an absolute gem.
-
CB is crucial now. Taylor is a liability, Willo is solid for only short periods, Colo gone at the end of the season. We need to find a strong physical presence to be put alongside MYM who will give us a bit of a tougher edge at the back. Who that is i really don't know but i'm sure our scouts are capable of finding it.

Without a doubt. Like i've mentioned previously, even when not at their best, Chelsea can still win comfortably if the opposition isn't well drilled and organised, we were. It's credit to us for being so. I said before Chelsea's game, us fans have a habit of playing down our good performances in favour of saying the opposition didn't turn up if they are poor. It was the same for Liverpool when Suarez/Sturridge arrived, a week later they ripped West Brom to shreds. Even Man City midweek just got the excuse of their players weren't bothered and didn't look up for it. We should be crediting our players for making them 3 sides look like that, understand if it was a one off performance but that's three very good teams and none of them have had an easy ride against us. We could have easily taken a bit of a battering off at least one of them but the players didn’t let that happen and give it their all.

We do realise Marv played in the first two home games of the season where everyone kicked off because we were shit, can anyone remember anything noteworthy that he done? Or did he just stand and watch Ben Arfa try and do everything? Nothing against Marv, i do rate him but he had his chance to shine and stamp down a marker in those games for me ultimately failed. Since then we have grew as a side, and for me, there's no place in the side for him. He should be on the bench but like Ben Arfa, his work rate needs to improve dramatically. He was substituted for Sammy against West Ham who did more than him when he came on, he was substituted for Remy against Fulham who also did more than him when he came on. Marv only has to blame himself for that and nobody else, and it’s no surprises that he’s found himself down the pecking order. It’s up to him to work hard in training and get his place back. Whether he is up for that or not is another matter, injuries don’t help his cause though.
