Just days away from the derby and we've got people calling for our manager to resign, beyond belief this.
  2. Well that explains why 'everyone was sound'. Keyboard warriors.
  3. That is rotten luck on consecutive nights.
  4. Man I hate that mentality. 'He's s***' been here half a season. Is young and will improve. I remember people saying roughly the same about De Gea Think it was Souness (or some other s*** Sky pundit) who said 'even his shirt drowns him, he doesn't look physical enough for this league' Which Man Utd's goalkeeping coach agreed with. No shocks that he's improved after the strength work he was told to focus on. His shot stopping was clearly high level, the mistakes were just nervousness. He's hardly the biggest now . He was clearly a class act IMO, pundits/fans writing him off was ridiculous Aye this, writing him off in this league after a couple of month simply because of his strength. It's not like something like that couldn't be worked on in time, and like you say he's still not the biggest, just more confident. Best keeper in the league imo, think he's excellent.

  6. 1 game ban. Is it? Ahhhhh bonus, thought it was the 3.

Possibly so, but we were always a man short on the counter in which we were still very effective. Imagine we had a Sissoko bombing forward with Remy instead of Anita's little legs trying to keep up
  8. I love MYM, honestly believe he is a top draw, was having a good game on Saturday till his red which he was still unfortunate about as it was Tiote who played Suarez onside, Tiote got out a second earlier, that doesn't happen and we could have picked up 3 points with people saying how good MYM was. Doesn’t deserve his 3 game ban unlike our other nugget of a centre back when he saw red in the opening game.

Much better read on a Monday morning He corrected his mistake of Liverpool at home last season where he fielded a negative team and set up for a draw. This time around he sent out the right team and showed his attacking intent from the off. He was actually unlucky, as i feel if we hadn't of went down to 10 men, we were in with a serious chance of 3 points and fancied us to get them once we took the lead. Be interesting to see who he selects for the mackems, Taylor will probably come in if fit but harder choice for him is who should be playing up top as we still haven’t quite got the balance right in that part of the pitch. Gouffran’s work rate practically prevents him from taking the lead role, Remy more effective on the wing, Cisse out of form and Ben Arfa is new to that role so hard to judge off Saturday, going off this it has to be Sholaaaaaa

Well no one has claimed that (beside Brett's flights of fancy) but we were light years off last season. He's still go to show a hell of lot more that that too but it was encouraging and I hope it''s not a false dawn. Wish you would start backing your little digs up. I've always maintained i'm not letting Pardew get in the way of the fact how much i love our players. I have forgiven them for last season as i don't think they showed themselves in best light and didn’t show what they are truly capable of. I believe this season they will surprise many and they've already started showing signs of that and not just yesterday. Pardew has the players at his disposal, he's often made bad decisions and costly errors, he was part of the problem last season but not the only problem. He's still capable of making us tick and i'm happy to support him with confidence that he will succeed without thinking he's anything special. Not hard to grasp. I find it promising we look like a side who is developing a new style of play into a consistent formation and not chopping and changing when things have turned sour. We’ve stuck by the 4-3-3 and tried various players in different roles to see what fits, it’s slowly all coming together. We’ve always known we’ve had the talent amongst our squad but this season they’ve shown they also have the desire, passion and courage to succeed here, which was a big question mark of their heads last season. The players along with the manager failed us all last season, I don’t expect them to do the same this time around.
  11. It was a foul, it was a red card, nothing more needed tbh. Mbiwa was unlucky in the fact Tiote never got out quick enough resulting in Mbiwa then having to give chase, Suarez's first touch to take it into his stride was exceptional though as it gave Mbiwa pretty much no chance of getting back at him. He shouldn’t have made the contact, as although it was likely Suarez would score, he still had work to do in beating Krul.

Yup. People confidently predicting a win last year and we got dicked. I will take a point as I always would in a derby tbh You'd take a point for every derby? Yup. You don't get beat. Obvs I'd like to win it, but I absolutely hate derby day. I'm a bag if nerves now and it's a week away. For me, our league position is paramount. A point in a derby is fine. It's their cup final, not ours Aye i'd take a point away from home, however would be criminal to accept a point at home to them.

Our support was excellent yesterday. Best it's been in a long time at home. It has been all season at SJP to be fair. Hardly, been like a morgue so far, last 15 minutes of Fulham game was good. West Ham was very dull, even when we were winning against Hull we were quiet. Yesterday was by far the best it's been in a long time. Controversial decisions by the officials really do kick our crowd into action, we get more animated and get behind the team more.

Tbh a lot of agro amongst our fans was caused by those who clapped him when he came over for the first corner and the others who rightly remember his horror tackle on Nobby. I can understand Spanish supporters clapping Iniesta who won them the world cup but in all fairness to Gerrard, he has done fuck all in comparison to that and imo didn’t deserve that reception. On the whole i thought our fans were brilliant, always going to be some people in the crowd who disagree with subs, that's understood. I thought Cabaye was looking very leggy and thought was the right call as he hadn't been as effective in that second half and we needed fresher legs in the middle of the park. Some fans voiced their opinions but it wasn’t anything over the top I didn’t think.

    Papiss Cissé

Yeah i know what you mean, can't totally blame the red card for this as it was seemingly the case prior to the red as well however once Mbiwa did go, it was always going to be a case of chasing shadows for Ben Arfa that moment onwards and just hope to counter well, which in fairness, we did very well at. I think the biggest chance went begging when Tiote never had the vision to wait about a second longer for Ben Arfa on the overlap to slide him in, he opted to have a strike and scuffed it. Obviously Remy had two brilliant breaks but great last ditch tackles have to be applauded.

Brett already did that. like I've mentioned it's not necessarily Pardew I'm giving all the praise too. Yes, his team selection and tactics were spot on however the players went out there and executed it even under the pressure of being a man down, it's them who deserve the praise, they were fantastic! A lot criticised their 2nd half against Cardiff but I saw positives of we wouldn't just roll over and let them get a result which we would have done last season. That's why I don't like judging our group on last year's performances as I thought there were many factors into their downfall and ultimately they were rock bottom and the spirit in the camp was all but gone. Now confidence has been restored, they are expressing themselves more freely, battling for every ball and look like a side who have faith in one another. It's impressive.

That's fine, and that's your opinion. But as I said your first thought was to direct it toward "the haters" and how they can't possibly think any different. Why not just say, "Pards did well, right selection, etc" It's not directly just Pardew, I feel a lot blinker themselves and dismiss our chances this season simply because of him. It would have taken a lot if them till now just to accept we are trying to play the 'right way', passing football on the deck, I said this before Man City you could see in our friendlies we were looking a lot more controlled even if it wasn't pretty but that's a big reason why I think we are growing, it's a new style and I'm enjoying watching it develop even if it's thrown in dodgy results like Hull at home!

This isn't one game, I think we've progressing with each game this season, slowly getting better and better, been hiccups of course but on the whole think it's a slow progression, and I'm very happy with it. That's all I say for now, everyone will see it in their own way but I think we are a growing side going places.

Yip! I think people might slowly start to do that u-turn though, I thought it was impossible but the future is looking brighter and brighter, can't see how they can keep going in the other direction! This team is going places! Pardew got it right today and as most people who routinely criticise him do, I will admit that and hope for more or the same. But this post is absolutely dire and is falling into the realms of WUM. Just fully Classic WUM call out just when things don't go in favour of the Pardew haters. What's the wind up? I think people might start to come around to Pardew's new standard of football and start to believe we have a good team at our club who not only are talented but have a character and spirit about them to succeed! Our manager might be poor but he's trying to implement this new style and he's got the players to do so! I said I'd be happy with top 8 with good football and I think we are striving towards that!
