I'm still on 1, think i'll just stick on here for now.

Without a doubt, Taylor/Tiote/Jonas being out at the same time was a blessing although i'm fairly certain Taylor/Jonas wouldn't be in regardless. Still fancy Tiote to creep back into the side at some point but no way is Remy/Mym coming out for the other two. Pardew hasn't even been giving enough praise for which deserves for how well he has actually utilised Ben Arfa and got him playing some of the best football of his career, really think the way he has handled Ben Arfa here has been superb. See, I don't get this idea that he's just twigged or got lucky with the team due to injuries. He's been after a starting central defender which was always likely to see Taylor as the one benched. His priority has been to get Remy in for a while, and this summer also one more for the left/up front to push/push out Jonas. He love Tiote, and I do too, and yes, he will play a lot this season, but he has also consistently said that this year will be Anitas year, someone we have invested in heavily. He has also consistently said that this is the kind of football he wants to see. Here I can't defend him as much, not least because I don't find it easy to see him as the greatest of managers, but also because it seems that as as soon as things go against us, whether that be injuries, fatigue, no signings, or f*** knows what else he gets panicked and thinks safety first. But that's not to say he hasn't always been aiming for this kind of team. I think he has. I've said that all along, sure i could drag my quotes up over the summer where i said he wants possession football and played in a positive way but i got shot down on here for it because he only knew hoof ball. Taylor has always been a problem here, MYM is a class above, Taylor won't be in anytime soon, i know for a fact Jonas won't be getting anywhere near the starts he had when we are fully fit, he's got a squad role this season. Agree with it being a big year for Anita but still feel overtime Tiote might come back into the side but we shall see. Pardew has always wanted someone to replace Ba in that left role and now he's got his man in Remy. All in all though things are looking glaringly positive for us and our future is now looking a lot brighter.

Except for when he selected him to play on his own up front in sub zero temperature on a plastic pitch in Russia/ Ukraine after being out injured for a month or so with a muscle injury. Agree that was very strange, however i didn't want him against Morecambe either in fear of something like that yet he won us the game.

The negativity has nothing to do with this weekend, I'm sure everybody is happy for a change. The hype following that performance is far too early and that shouldn't need pointing out but it clearly does. Yeah i can certainly see why the doubters don't want to get excited just yet, i'm pretty sure they will stand up soon though and start to take notice of what we actually have here.

Mate, it's early days. The signs are positive, but there needs to be definite sustained improvement. No point getting carried away with yourself just yet. I agree, however, that some are simply shifting the goalposts in order to keep up the 'I H8 TEH c***' stance. I know what you mean however i'm allowing myself to get carried away as i've always remained faithful that once we gout our team fully fit we could put in that type of performance and we did just that. Even i thought we might need a bit of time to gel it back together however it clicked very well and we will only get stronger. Really fancy us to kick on from this, just praying injuries are kind with us so this side can all improve together, was actually nice to watch them repay me for my faith I’ve had in them…finally. Now it’s time for them to show just how far they can go.

One good game doesn't restore confidence after 12 months of the shittiest s*** performances you'd ever see and flirting with relegation, being thwarted by Sunderland and losing 0-6 at SJP. f*** that. He has a long, long way to go. First good signs in over a year. Yes you're right but i've said all along, everything we could possibly think of went wrong last year, we were a mess all over the place. During pre-season i said if everyone forgets last season and we get confidence instilled back around the club and get off to a good start then anything is possible and that's what we have done. I mentioned during pre-season we looked like we were a side that was starting to try and play football, there was less long balls and more possession, we've slowly just tried to work on that and we are getting better and better at it. I’m looking forward to seeing this side develop as this is only the start of what they are capable of.

Can't believe i'm still reading Pardew negativity, he couldn't have done anymore on Saturday. A lot on here were slating him midweek onwards saying Taylor would be back in regardless of clean sheets, Anita would be out for Tiote, Remy won't play when Jonas is fit. It's a load of shite man. He got everything spot on, i was ridiculed on here for taking drugs when i said as soon as Remy would be fit, we would go back to 4-3-3 in the formation we had with Ba yet that's exactly we have done as soon as he had a full squad to choose from, which has been the first time in a long time. This is all we did when finished 5th, got off to a good start and maintained that run of form, Pardew is capable of doing that. People around the country were just waiting for us to fall back down to mid table mediocrity but it never happened, we just kept going. Pardew has problems when things turn sour because he isn't really a good manager, but with this side in form, he's capable of having another good season regardless if people hate him or not. Yes it was just the one game on Saturday where it all came together, but you could see over the past few games we were slowly getting it all together and it's a joy to see now . Hopefully more and more fans will start to turn their heads around and realise we are actually building something special here and get behind it.

I wouldn't argue with anyone who say's Gouff should start but personally think we should stick with Cisse for the time being, we are starting to create more and i think it will only take one goal to set him off on a run. Along with that, i'd like to see that team from Saturday remained unchanged until we see some glaring errors, for now i don't think Cisse is one.

Tempted to start an Alan Pardew apology thread! Since his excuse one seems to have taken off...
-
Pardew, give us a wave, Pardew Pardew give us a wave!!!
-
Just seen Gareth Bale's nutmeg on Ronaldo, superb bit of skill by him, no wonder Ronaldo was sliding in on him after that
-
So what's changed?
-
His overdraft comment pretty much exorcised any doubts I personally ever had about him being complicit and in bed with the regime. Want him gone, out, don't sully the door with your dirty arseprint, fuckface. He wants what is best for himself which is more players of quality to help him achieve better results (exactly the same as us). Pardew can’t vent his feeling about lack of transfer activity the same as we can because he would lose his job, simple as that. He wanted players, he never got them and so he comes out with bullshit to why it never happened to appease his boss but knowing full well his boss has shit on him again and will continue to do so, but he’s not going to be getting a better post anywhere else.
-
And that is how good Gerrard was. Drove Liverpool on that night with a phenomenal second half display. I'd be careful about praising an Englishman in the England thread if i was you, tread carefully.
-
Good to know you would stick them even though Taylor is back.
-
Would you like to see Taylor back in the side Ronny over MYM since he's available again? Just curious to see if your coming around to the idea of MYM/Colo yet or you would still stick with Taylor.
-
It's not, I can't be arsed and need to do some work. That's a relief.
-
I think he will most certainly regret how it all panned out, jumped a sinking ship only for his personal lifeboat to get a puncture. If someone had told him that’s how his career would have went after he left us, no chance would he have left. Fortunately his departure lead to Krul moving up the pecking order ousting out Harper in due course which has worked wonders for us.

Why have you totally taken the subject we were talking about and turned it into something else? Nobody was saying Cisse was this 'extravagant luxury' or we never needed more forwards? Sure you just try to cause tensions across the forum polic! We were simply debating if Ashley would spend in January and i was simply making a case of i think our position in the league isn't relevant in whether he would spend or not as he’s proved in the past when we flying high under Pardew and Ba was banging the goals in, we still added Cisse to the squad because the deal was financially right for the club regardless of whether we were desperate for him or not. Take your Andy Carroll along with your 35 million into another debate please. Wow, what an idiotic post. I'm saying we dithered in the summer and didn't bring in enough firepower with the Carroll money, so we corrected the mistake in January. Sound familiar? You can shove your tension up your arse, you're one of a few first-class whoppers on here at the minute. Yes but nobody was talking about dithering in the summer of 2012 or about Andy Carroll finances, you just randomly brought that up which has no case to be made for whether or not we will spend this January, just trying to get people to dance to your tune as everything has to revolve around you at the moment it seems. Don't even know why I’ve drawn myself into this tbh, you must have had enough fun chasing Ian around the forum criticising his posts acting like playground bully, just let people have their own opinions without shooting them down at every single opportunity.

After a bit of research we were actually 6th when signed Cisse, so at least he has history of spending big inside the bracket you think we won't purchase anyone. Positive sign
-
I don't think it truly matters what position we are in, we will still probably target someone like Gomis again in Jan regardless if we are 6th or 6th bottom. We signed Cisse for 10 million when we were in top 6 and had Ba scoring for fun so see no reason to doubt if there is a deal to be made which is good financially for us that we will take it. It was just a wise move this year to bring a couple of the signings forward even though it cost us slightly more than it should have done but we needed that boost.
