  1. Well i can't see Liverpool/Spurs not getting that point total then, if that makes it easier. This season or next. Along with Man Utd.
  2. Because if you've got a higher standard of players which Liverpool/Spurs have to us or Everton, it's harder to outpoint them. You need them to slip up like Chelsea/Liverpool did when we jumped ahead of them. I'm just struggling to see a side who will slip up again in the near future. Man Utd have this season but i can't see them going from Champions to outside the top 6. A good manager hired and serious money needs to be spent if we want to give oursleves a good fighting chance, both of which i can't see Ashley doing.
  3. They will, and that's why we keep having to keep ourselves amongst top 8 but keep improving our squad to sieze the opportunities when they arrive. The top 6 this season will be the top 6 everyone thought at the start of the season and i can't see it changing next season either, but eventually one will slip like you say and you have to make sure you make it count.
  4. Next season, who have Everton/Newcastle got a realistic chance of overthrowing to get top 6? Spurs are the weakest link imo but even they still have better squads then both of us and you know they will cough up money for new players and back Sherwood or any other manager. Man Utd should be back in the top 4 next season, probably moving Liverpool out of it if they get it this year, but Liverpool themselves will also sign a fair few players i'd imagine improving on what they already have. This was by far the best year to take advantage and i think probably only Liverpool are siezing on that opportunity that Man Utd have left open. Spurs we in a bit of a mess at one point but recovered with Sherwood but once again, us or Everton didn't spend in January to give ourselves a fighting chance of it. You could say 6th place is still open but i really fancy Man Utd to take that spot still.
  5. 8th or 9th "another good league finish" We finish top 8, i'd class that as a good finish. Sure Everton would think the same. If you put yourself in that mix, you give yourself a chance to push on to the next level following season. The problem is the fact the top 6 now look rock solid imo, going to take some real investment from us or Everton to break into it. Man Utd are still certain for a top 6 finish imo. I know they've shipped in some awful performances but with most of their squad getting back to full fitness, i think they'll do enough to cement that spot ahead of anyone else. Then next season you'd fancy Liverpool to spend big money since they haven't over last couple of windows, especially with potential CL money coming in. Spurs always seems to pluck up money out their arse to invest and then Man Utd are rumoured to go on a wild spending spree. I do really struggle to see someone breaking into that top 6 anytime soon. This was potentially a great season to do so with a lot of changes taking place and we got ourselves in a position to go for it but decided to sell our playmaker and sign no players permanently. Ultimately let down by Ashley once again to no great surprise.
  6. Inconsistencies at the start such 15th, 7th, 17th, 4th and 11th. It took time before he finally established himself. When you’re on the verge of the sack a few times, you are clearly encountering some problems but they stuck by him even if there was pressure from fans/media. I'm not saying Pardew needs same length of time, it's more of a case how long would we stick by Moyes to rebuild? Especially under Ashley where money won't be thrown at him. Our fans are known to be impatient and if Moyes was struggling for results whilst also not playing good football, I’m not sure our fans would have the patience to stand by him.
  7. 200 million available i read somewhere this morning.
  8. A lot on here just want us to play like Swansea/Southampton, Moyes wouldn't bring that so they shouldn't want him. I'd never have a Moyes side in the bracket of Rodger's Liverpool or Wenger's Arsenal and so forth. Not like his teams are exciting and good to watch. The second leg semi final against Sunderland summed him up for me, dominated them and then scored, then sat back on it and just looked to counter even though he had far superior players to that of his opposition. Then forced to attack and they carve them open straight away, something they could have done straight after their first goal and put the tie to bed.
  9. No they don't. Well people should maybe take that into account when Pardew has only had one bad season in the league here, looks like he's going on to have another good league finish, so that would be two good finishes and one poor one. Wasn't like Moyes constantly had Everton playing fancy football throughout his time. He had good spells and bad spells but Everton stuck with him and it paid off even when there was big rumours he was on the brink of the sack a couple of times during his reign. Then he had no cup success either for Everton so not like he can brag about that either and arguably Everton’s biggest game for him in charge was CL qualifier and he lost that too. Not denying he's better than Pardew and for me personally i would actually have him here but it wouldn't bother me if produced s*** football and got the results. As for Man Utd, they should never have hired him as he isn't at that standard of quality and way out of his depth. They will be too stubborn to sack him now but they are only delaying the inevitable imo. He's not a world class manager and Man Utd should have one of them in charge, not fannying about with just a good PL manager.
  10. People also forget Moyes had a couple of poor seasons himself at Everton when they were bottom half and there was pressure for a sacking but Kenwright kept the faith and he always responded the season after. Wasn't like it was rosey year after year during his time.
  11. I would fwap my cock off if that happened. This is where i'm lost though. Results might be more consistent but the standard of football isn't really going to improve by a great deal and suddenly be in the bracket of the other good footballing teams in the league. Yet that's what people seem to want most, to be playing football in which the likes of Southampton/Swansea do. Moyes wouldn’t bring anything close to that. Moyes at Everton played some very good football during his last few years there, and he had a clear vision of how he wanted his team to play. If you don't see a significant step up in the quality of his Everton team compared to the dross your man is serving up then you're more of a lost cause than I thought. He wasn't relaying on one or two players to "produce a bit of magic" to win games, but rather he had his team knowing how to approach a game. We would never see a season like last one under Moyes, under Pardew it's always going to be a couple of injuries away. So where's this good football at Man Utd if that's his style? What is the style at Man Utd? Scoring a goal then sitting back? Conceding then have no plan B to change things around? Martinez seems to have went into Everton and got them playing better football than Moyes. How often were people saying i wish we played football like Moyes' Everton? Any team can play good football at times given the quality, even Newcastle have managed it this season. It's completely different thing showing it in a match here and there or having the same good football style weekly.
  12. Regressed last 2-3 year. 4 year ago we were in Championship so just assumed that's when you thought the peak was and he hasn't been the same since? Sorry if i judged that incorrectly. Can see what you mean now reading your other posts, not that i agree still, with CD on this one
  13. I would most certainly take him, but then i'm not arguing the case it's an absolute must for good football here. A fair few on here just want to see good football so i'd be surprised if they would take him and build a style of football they don't want to see here.
  14. Im not saying he wasn't. Im saying he was better the season before. I can only really think of the Bolton bollocking where he wasn't good. That doesn't mean to say he regressed the following season because he wasn't making games look as easy as he was in the championship. He had a great season against far tougher opposition? Beyond me how that's regressing
  16. I don't get Igcognito's point, it's a load of shit. If you’re a class above a level of course you're going to stand out more. If you take that form to a higher level it's not going to be as consistently as good because of the opposition but you can still have a great season, doesn't mean to say you've regressed. Laughable comment.
  17. 2-3 years? It's only 2 yars ago he was in team of the season for the PL is it not? So? The season we came up was his best season for us in MY opinion so the 2-3 years after that in MY opinion he wasn't as good as the previous so in MY opinion he has regressed. Wat?
  18. Yet was still phenomenal in the derby the match, haven't got a single point since without him. He had that great game then was dog shit till he was injured and all that personal stuff came about. Then he was tremendous on return from injury and for me was absolutely vital in our survival bid.
  19. That's just ridiculous you seen their squad? They like Jon Walters FFS! They aren't exactly know for having anyone remotely decent Their keeper is highly regarded. I'm not saying they have players all over the shop but if Stoke rate a player doesn't mean to say i wouldn't take them. Huddlestone could have quite easily been playing for them had he not failed a medical and i'm a fan of his for example.
  20. Difference with Man Utd is you know when they eventually sack him, they will go out and get a world class manager and not risk shite again like Moyes at that level. I don't have the faith Ashley won't take another risk like Kinnear/Hughton again and fancy him to just scrape the bottom of the barrel for another cheap random manager.
  21. Still better than your hero. Just a better version, being better than Pardew isn't something you'd brag about
  22. He's better than what we have and i would like him but he would cost too much. Never going to happen so not much point in discussing it, saying that... we got 8 pages worth of bullshit in the Glenn Hoddle for DOF thread so anything is possible
  23. How are people actually defending Moyes here He did an excellent job at Everton, no denying that. However he won fuck all and on the whole played rather unattractive football. I think it's a surprise just how far back he's took Man Utd but it's not a surprise to see him failing and producing dog shit football. Think it was expected for Man Utd to go backwards with Fergie leaving and basically give up their title with minimal fight. Can't say you'd have expected them to be level on points with Everton and only 5 points ahead of us come March though, along with being out of both cups and on the verge of exit in the CL, that's just tragic on all levels.
