  1. 15 clean sheets last year, was it? The fact is if Simpson got called up we'd all be proud of him and want him to do well. Why be so negative and mock our players chances of getting into a poor squad?
  2. Because our fantastic defensive record was a big reason why we finished 5th and we often had 2 or more English players in the back 4. That still doesn't automatically mean they're good enough for international football. They've played many, many games in the Premiership and yielded fantastic results last year. That should mean more than being young and from London. Again though, that doesn't mean they're automatically good enough to play international football. They're helped by having top-class players alongside them who offered a lot more to those fantastic results. You could say that about many of the players in the squad though. Look at the strikers for example.

  4. They play in different positions. What does that matter? Baines will be left back and Walker will be right back.

  6. I'm not saying they SHOULD be called up, just that they (Simpson and Taylor) realistically could have been if there was no bias. Our defensive record last year alone should see Simpson get a call up ahead of Ryan Bertrand who is 23 and has played about 5 times in the Premiership.
  7. Simpson and S.Taylor mainly. Williamson and R.Taylor could have also got a call up based on our position and defensive record last year. Being young and from a London team supersedes all though.
  8. Again, our players are ignored and other players who have barely played are selected. Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Jack Butland (Birmingham City), John Ruddy (Norwich City). Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Steven Caulker (Tottenham Hotspur), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur). Midfielders: Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Jake Livermore (Tottenham Hotspur), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Ashley Young (Manchester United). Forwards: Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

  13. The thing I'm probably most looking forward to this season is seeing how the kids do in competitive games. Our midfield situation should be the blueprint for the other positions. Get 1 or 2 prospects in for each position to compete for places on the bench. I'd rather have these kind of players on the bench than a Best or a Guthrie type who are good players, but they're not getting any better. These kids might be something special and they will be ours.
  14. Aye. Obertan should really be English. He's of the modern breed of player who are athletic but don't know how to use the ball. We're growing so accustomed to these players we're letting them get away with murder. This is probably a case of a player being/playing really bad then going away for a while and some people forgetting how bad he is/was.
  15. Might be D-Rock himself posting that. Why would someone who runs the twitter site phone D-Rock up at 10pm about a worthless rumour?
  16. Didn't he say a month ago Carroll was in a local hotel waiting to sign?
  17. Might not be a bad thing if Pardew has/was to kick off a bit tbh.
  18. The Euros were rubbish. The olympics are nothing. Ein pls
  19. Just bigging Obertan up. Means nothing really.
  20. "made it all the way to the very top tier of football" aye. He is, at most, average. And that's largely due to his pace. Anything I've seen which suggests otherwise is often followed up by 5 examples of me being right.
  21. He isn't. Take away his speed/athleticism and he's barely even a footballer. Happens a lot these days.
