  1. Didn’t they lose 5-0 to sunderland last season with 80% possession? Don’t get me wrong. Part of me admires the bravery, sometimes stupidity. The risk/reward has to be factored in and I like that coaches have a style and identity and want to stick to it. Certainly much better than the likes of Pardew and Bruce. Who would just lurch from one disaster to another and rip up their tactics and formation off one bad performance. But there has to be a balance. So many teams seem to be over-playing and gifting other teams goals with this style. Not sure what has to happen to actually clear your lines or aim for someone long. As quite often, it is like watching a car crash in slow motion the way teams play out. Ipswich have been surprisingly good at it. Bypassed the Liverpool press with 20-30 yarders. But still kept it short. Then went away to City and kept trying it. Which resulted in giving away 2, maybe 3 goals. Seems a bit suicidal. As for Southampton. Well…. Poor ol Teenage Mutant Gary Birtles the other week on their game. I thought he was going to spontaneously combust. Such was his anger
  2. I wouldn’t quite go that far. But the last season, it really seems like it’s come in more and more. Blessing in disguise that Pope is so bad with his feet
  3. At what point do managers realise they’re not Pep and they don’t have the players or the ability to coach teams to play this way. It’s a pandemic. A real scourge of the modern game.
  4. I can’t even listen to that shite anymore. The bloke that always has a mouth full of drink/spit who just shouts over and abuses everyone all the while. Ruined the comedic value in the end.

    Marc Guehi

Looks so half arsed with that. Seems to see the keeper coming and just kind of tries to shove Vardy and then nearly stops. See a few scouting pieces saying he sometimes switches off for a split second and it can cost him. Looked like he was never paying attention for any of that. Worth pointing out it is shit from Henderson there and all. Shouldn’t be rushing out at that angle. He wasn’t fully away from Guehi and it’s not an easy angle. Proper no man’s land.
  6. Did I just hear that right? Martinez ‘never dives in’ Quality defender. But the bloke is rash as fuck. Similar to Romero, just actually a top level player.
  7. Have they? How far back are we going as I don’t remember loads of goals due to us being beaten in the air for height? Bad positioning and communication at times, maybe. This season alone, it’s only the long throw at Forest where it’s been bad defending from the ball coming in high. Then an outrageous (sliced) finish resulting in a goal. All a moot point. As I do think Howe likes the security of a CB type at left back and the extra size and strength it brings. It’s just limiting us even more on the ball.
  8. Not sure when it will happen. Probably only if Burn is injured or suspended. But I’d love to see Schar and Kelly as the CB pair at some point. It’s not even that I think Burn has been bad or anything. He’s been decent for the most part and much better at CB. I’d just like to see Hall get some minutes and Kelly is also better on the ball than Burn with a decent range of passing. So many of our problems, well, probably most of our problems in possession. All start with the back 5. Only really Schar there that is really comfortable on the ball and will look to break lines from the positions they’re all playing in currently.
  9. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest. He writes for the worst rag in the country for stirring up the public and printing mistruths and lies. He comes across really arrogant and smarmy on any pod I’ve heard him on. Find him worse than Edwards to listen to, even. Oh how his stock has fallen. Was probably my favourite thing linked to NUFC when he called Bruce out when no others would. Can see now that wasn’t specific to him and he just likes the drama and misery. Gets people talking and generates clicks, I suppose. Just like we are on here.
  10. Ask him who broke his heart or wronged him in life, to make him so bitter and twisted.
  11. Certainly a balance to be had. If we don’t return to anything like the intensity we had before and regularly surrender so much of the ball and control of games to the opposition. Then I think there could be something in the stories around training. We certainly don’t look fit like a typical Howe team. That said. He always starts slow and 3 league games, one of which we had 10 men for an hour. Is probably not a fair sample size So I’m more than happy to actually wait and see how we shape up over the next 10 games or so.
  12. You should probably read posts properly before replying. Where have I suggested he should ‘cover up a story’ FFS. Why is he the only one that is reporting this? Why does almost every story he publishes focus on the bad and not the good? The bloke is a bellend.
  13. Maybe Bacon Bruce was right about him
  14. Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt and believe him. He just revels in bad news and negativity. Despite supposedly being a fan. He is a monumental tosser. Easter Island block heed cunt.
  15. I was out last night. So I missed the game. But I echo what plenty have others have said since the Euros. Kane needs runners to go beyond him. So not sure playing Foden left works. Plus it takes away from what Foden is good at. It’s not the same as playing there for a Pep coached Manchester Globetrotters. I also think Bellingham gets in the way in the 10. That’s the space Kane often wants to occupy and I also felt like he wanted too many touches and held the ball too long in the Euros. He’s too good not to play. But not sure I’d want him there in that advanced role. Would certainly be interesting to see what Carsley’s philosophy is moving forward. Does he stick to the profiles of players he has used over these two games? Or does he shoehorn certain players back in, possibly out of position, or in a role that doesn’t suit?
  16. Missed the first 5-10 minutes of the Ireland game and so I only just saw Rice's goal this morning. First thing I thought of was the above when watching the passage of play back. Seems harsh with how many goals he got last season. But he really could improve his 1 on 1 finishing and he'd then kick onto that elite level. Certainly in agreement that he often goes for a 'safe' finish and just wants to hit the target. Can't remember many goals where he's gone for height or something a bit cute like a dink or trying to round the keeper. I get he can work on it, still. But I'm not convinced it is something you can get really good at just through training. I think it is a mindset thing and how calm and confident you are in those situations. I saw that Suarez goal v PSG doing the rounds again the other day in Twitter. That is just disgusting levels of self-belief. The skill to get there and then putting it top bin for no reason whatsoever If Gordon could get anywhere near that level of self-belief when finishing. Then you're looking at a possible world beater.
  17. Agree with both. He got in the way most the time at the Euros. Wanted too many touches and slowed our game down. Much prefer him in the two and driving from deep.
  18. Only saw the first half. Thought he looked lively. Maybe still not quite at his best with taking his man on and that burst of pace. But miles better
  19. Its how quickly he moves or looks to move the ball that stood out, for me. Never stood still, either. Even has a few heavy touches at times. But is sharp enough to still retain possession.
