What are you doing, man? Giving genuine reasons and an explanation for our performances. You’re supposed to basically just say we’re shit and carry on like the sky is falling
-
Yeah. I was going to say Tino. Wasn’t watching somewhere where I could pay full attention. But seemed to be countless interceptions, blocks and tackles. Nearly MOTM for that carry out of defence alone.
-
I meant the c*** hair offside stopped them being 1 up after 6 minutes. They win the ball back with ease and seem solid at the back and have players open all the while. I think stylistically, they would fuck us in the arse TBH.
-
Yeah. Hopefully we don’t play them for a while

VVD tickling Rat Bruno’s neck at the end there

Oh yeah. In games like Southampton and today. He is invaluable for his off ball work. The fact in both games. He has also scored and all but created another. Is hugely promising. If he can improve his… ‘on ball value’ I believe the stattos call it. Then look out. We have some sort of Vieira/Yaya Toure on our hands

Burn is very good at CB. But I would like to see Schar and Kelly at some point. Kelly is very capable on the ball when he plays CB. Would take a lot of pressure off Pope’s crap kicking. Whilst adding two almost playmaking options at CB.
-
He does. But he is still going to rack up a record number of yellows this season I reckon Much better today, I thought. After a couple of poor games (I didn’t see the cup game FWIW. But read he wasn’t great.

If there is a rift in the camp and the body language experts are all correct. Then the players are consummate professionals. As they all looked like they’d die for the manager and the club today
-
Isn’t his distribution also bad? Not Pope bad, but still not good. Guessing we want to get a young keeper like Trafford to replace Pope in time. Been said numerous times. Replacing what Pope gives us as a keeper, with someone equally as good or better. Who is also decent on the deck. Will cost a lot of money. If Pope’s shoulder really is still bad or it’s a mental block he can’t get past. Then that’s obviously not ideal…..
-
I’m Pope’s biggest cheerleader on here. But it was a terrible mistake IMO. Does well to get a hand to Son’s shot and Burn should do better, as well. But that’s all come about from his clanger in the first place. So many of our players look a bit rusty and starting slow is nothing new. Fingers crossed he sorts his head out in relation to that shoulder or that it’s just me imagining it. As I still think he is the best keeper I’ve seen play for us.

Ruthless finish. Wasn’t far away with the curler and was also a world class Dragusin tackle away from getting in behind. Purposeful with his runs and happy to take on his man. Massive from him today, I thought. Hope he gets a run in the side now.
-
I just think he doesn’t look fit? His usual zip is missing and I don’t think it is just him not trying. There are times he looks a bit lazy and like he’s loafing. But again, I put a lot of that down to his fitness. Maybe no break, away with England where he got no minutes and probably low intensity training. Followed by virtually no pre-season with us. Has properly fucked him? I was hoping the international break would help. But he’s in the England squad FFS

Posted in the shit officiating thread. But maybe more relevant to here: Watching at a mate’s house after a christening. So hardly the best place for expert analysis. But surely it’s a blatant pen on Isak? Did VAR not even look at it? He goes right through him to get to the ball. Even heard that prick Hinchliffe saying what great defending it was. Isak should have squared it and sometimes he seems to hang onto it too long. But even so, it’s still a foul IMO.

Definitely something in his head about that shoulder. Went with two hands and didn’t try and catch it on a weak shot first half. Then went down and looked so awkward for the goal with whatever the fuck he was trying to do I didn’t think his kicking and passing out was as heart attack inducing today. Which was a big plus. But it’s still bad. Hopefully in time. With the likes of Hall, Schar, Trippier and next year, Botman. He won’t need to be on the ball so much.
-
Take it. We were pretty bad. But you always notice how many blocked shots, big challenges, recovery runs etc that we make as a team. Not been good enough tactics and control wise this season. But they’re running through brick walls for the club and manager. Which is a big positive, at least. Not played well. Yet through into the next round of the cup and 7/9 in the league. Plenty to build on.
-
It is my worry. Without Schar and Trippier in the back 4. There is no real ball player there.
-
Not a massive fan of that right hand side of the pitch again. Not really any quality on the ball and with our passing. Think we could get bogged down again that half. The same as Bournemouth.
-
Did he get a ridiculously hard time compared to others, though? I don’t see how his record matters in this instance. His performances for us were pretty much useless for most of his time here and he rarely looked like scoring or contributing in a positive way. His entire game looked sub-par and then the finishing deserted him on top of that, for large spells. Whether it was the ‘pressure’ of playing for us and the situation we found ourselves in at the time. I don’t know. The only time where I think he got properly scapegoated was Sheff Wed. The miss was horrific. But almost to a man, the team were gutless as fuck that night. But I still don’t feel like he was hounded straight out the gate. More that his performances were just rubbish straight from the off. Served his purpose up to a point I guess and helped us stay up. Seemed to like it here, demonstrated by the way he didn’t celebrate 3 very good goals for Forest. So it’s hard to dislike him. Despite him being terrible during the vast majority of his time here.
-
I still think he regularly looks to have the touch of a trampoline and his link up play is pretty shit. But facing goal he does look a different player for them. Maybe the situation at the time or us not creating loads. Meant that he felt the pressure and was snatching at everything? Not sure.
-
If he was just stood there and matey blasted it at him. That would be the harshest second yellow for a long time, I think. Wasn’t like he was stood over the ball for ages blocking him. It’s more the fact that he slyly taps the ball away on purpose and then goes to jog off. He looked guilty as fuck afterwards and knew what he’d done. The Brighton player probably did decide to take a free hit at him and squeezed all the juice out of the situation to get Rice booked, for sure. From the bits and pieces I saw of the game. Both teams were going above and beyond the usual levels of gamesmanship/cheating and shithousery.

69 goals in 69 prem games for Haaland. Mental. Didn’t 1 in 2 used to be considered elite?!

Nah. It’s an old Twitter pisstake and I have a group with a load of Liverpool fans and two Everton fans. So I post this on the regular
