  1. If Pardew wants to play a lone striker with HBA supporting, surely we won't be signing Gameiro?

AP did that? Not a bad effort
  3. S.Taylor certainly isn't quick, wouldn't sya he's quicker than Williamson either.

It gives me no peace of mind though. There will definitely be stories of people who are being made to move by the club who will be told their renewal wasn't received and their season ticket not renewed. Sorry, should have used one of the smileys to get my sarcasm across!

"If you have recently returned your renewal form, or have requested a seat move, please ignore this email and accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused". I got this e mail as well, that line makes me think they've got it all in hand and everything will be fine........
  6. Thought Guthrie had a very good game last night, fairly tidy in possession, made some crucial blocks/tackles and made a few good forward runs. However you can't leave Big Kev out and I fully agree with Tron's comments, it was obvious last night, and even more so at Villa that we missed any support through the middle of the pitch. Strikers were really isolated.
  7. Think he is a very good old fashioned centre half. Superb in the air, good in the challenge and doesn't usually take silly risks. I also think he isn't that slow for a man of his size, I would say he's wuicker than someone like Collins or Dunne for example, they look like tractors when they start motoring. When Colo eased Hernandez off the ball last night, both were just about keeping up with him. When you consider how quick the little fecker is, that isn't bad. I think he will only improve with experience and his best years are ahead of him, certainly one of our stronger areas in the starting XI, just the back up that worries me.
  8. Der's more to Oireland, dan dis.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Not watched too much French football, used to when Setanta existed. But he seemed to play wide left, right or in an advanced central position. Seemed like he just got the free role, which is what we should do IMO, like VdV at Spurs. I always thought his natural position was more central, although I may be wrong.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

any of our forward line at the minute. At the moment I'd have to agree. Playing two forwards and leaving out a midfielder for HBA would seem mental with our current strikers. i don't think he's played that position before but he seems to have what it takes to play there. very much in a beardsleyesque role. He started off as an attacking midfielder. Deschamps predominantly played him out wide and took some of his creativity away, think this was one of the reasons they ended up falling out. I believe there are quotes from HBA and Pardew saying the 'number 10' role is his best position.
  11. Don't blame him for wanting out. He was one of the few players that were wanted by other clubs. Still, refusing to play for the club that gave you your first big break and put you in the shop window, paid your wages etc etc is pathetic. If you don't blame him for being such a petulant w***** fair play, I do. This is exactly why I'm nervous about us signing more French players. Almost every one who has played for us has turned out to be a back-stabbing c***! Sadly I fear that Ben Arfa will turn out to be another one, unless we can give him European football within a couple of seasons. Long-haired Argies are the way forward! TBH, I am still surprised we got HBA. Never thought for one minute we were more than just a stepping stone for him. As strange as it sounds, the leg break might end up being a blessing in disguise for us, as he'll play at least all of next season I would have thought. Also, depending on how skeptical you are, he's the perfect Ashley buy, bought for a reasonable fee with the potential for him to be sold on for two or three times the amount. You never know though, he might actually love our fans......

  13. Didn't he go on strike and refuse to play a pre season friendly to force a move, Dundee I think it was, drew 1-1, Carroll scored. Still a massive fan of Bassong, but he's a c*** who wanted out, why would we want him back?
  14. Lee Ryder really is a weapon. I'm pretty certain Ireland did not make a name for himself as a winger. He also likes to use the term 'powder keg' on a weekly basis. His blogs are cringeworthy as fuck as well. Oh and Stephen Ireland, he can fuck off and all, although Ryder seems to be putting 2 and 2 together and just assuming he won't play, Ireland does has previous. Next week his birds gran will die so he won't be able to play, then his second cousins best mate's gran will die so he won't be able to play due to the grief.
  15. The most important part for me tbh
  16. The most amazing thing about Messi is his fitness levels and injury record. He's rarely injured and despite what people say about the Spanish league, he does get kicked from pillar to post. Most the time he just rides the challenge and carries on going! Add to that his consistency and you've got one of the best players ever. Although I'm not keen on trying to compare players from different generations. It's too difficult to do and people always come out with the usual lines "he needs to play for a different club" or "he needs to win a World Cup" He proves time and again how good he is in the best league in the world (my opinion) and in the Champions League, which I think is the pinnacle of world football. Plus, he also owes a lot to Barca, as they took a punt on him when he was about 4ft 10" when others rejected him. They play the best football in the world, he gets paid a shit load and Barca is an awesome place, why would he leave? I would like to see him in the Prem mind, but I don't think it will ever happen. The thought of him running at the likes of Gary Caldwell and Anton Ferdinand
  17. Do we need him though? Not disciplined enough to play on the wings, and we already have a certain player who will be occupying the free role next season. Going to have to play bloody well for 6 games and not want a huge contract, as it's not really an area that we're massively light in.

    Alan Pardew

Most football fans are like that to some degree, just some worse than others. For example, when Leon Best scored his hat trick against West Ham, it was hilarious. People who had been saying how shite he was for months on end suddenly said "oh he's a great finisher" "I knew he'd come good" "Quality striker, going to get better and better" and then started singing his name! Fans are fickle by their very nature, just varying degrees of fickleness.
  19. Although it is a massively over inflated price due to him being English, the fact we were apparently 'reluctant' to sell and because it was a last minute buy in the window, with us knowing full well they would have a large sum of money in the bank following the Torres deal. I think we'll struggle to get anyone as good as him, but we should be able to get a more than able striker and another decent player for the money. What I have a problem with, is that we will only spend that £35m (allegedly going to cover wages and fees as well), yet we needed to spend around £20m this summer regardless of who we sold. Now it's looking like Jose will follow suit and leave so we will need another left back in as well. Not overly optimistic about the summer I must say. I'm fairly open minded, but it looks as if those predicting that we're going to become a selling club and MA just wants to asset strip us might actually be right? Who knows, we'll find out by September I suppose.

Who is judging him on one game then?
