  1. Don't blame him for wanting out. He was one of the few players that were wanted by other clubs. Still, refusing to play for the club that gave you your first big break and put you in the shop window, paid your wages etc etc is pathetic. If you don't blame him for being such a petulant wanker fair play, I do.
  2. Didn't he go on strike and refuse to play a pre season friendly to force a move, Dundee I think it was, drew 1-1, Carroll scored. Still a massive fan of Bassong, but he's a c*** who wanted out, why would we want him back?
  3. Lee Ryder really is a weapon. I'm pretty certain Ireland did not make a name for himself as a winger. He also likes to use the term 'powder keg' on a weekly basis. His blogs are cringeworthy as fuck as well. Oh and Stephen Ireland, he can fuck off and all, although Ryder seems to be putting 2 and 2 together and just assuming he won't play, Ireland does has previous. Next week his birds gran will die so he won't be able to play, then his second cousins best mate's gran will die so he won't be able to play due to the grief.
  4. The most important part for me tbh
  5. The most amazing thing about Messi is his fitness levels and injury record. He's rarely injured and despite what people say about the Spanish league, he does get kicked from pillar to post. Most the time he just rides the challenge and carries on going! Add to that his consistency and you've got one of the best players ever. Although I'm not keen on trying to compare players from different generations. It's too difficult to do and people always come out with the usual lines "he needs to play for a different club" or "he needs to win a World Cup" He proves time and again how good he is in the best league in the world (my opinion) and in the Champions League, which I think is the pinnacle of world football. Plus, he also owes a lot to Barca, as they took a punt on him when he was about 4ft 10" when others rejected him. They play the best football in the world, he gets paid a shit load and Barca is an awesome place, why would he leave? I would like to see him in the Prem mind, but I don't think it will ever happen. The thought of him running at the likes of Gary Caldwell and Anton Ferdinand
  6. Do we need him though? Not disciplined enough to play on the wings, and we already have a certain player who will be occupying the free role next season. Going to have to play bloody well for 6 games and not want a huge contract, as it's not really an area that we're massively light in.

    Alan Pardew

Most football fans are like that to some degree, just some worse than others. For example, when Leon Best scored his hat trick against West Ham, it was hilarious. People who had been saying how shite he was for months on end suddenly said "oh he's a great finisher" "I knew he'd come good" "Quality striker, going to get better and better" and then started singing his name! Fans are fickle by their very nature, just varying degrees of fickleness.
  8. Although it is a massively over inflated price due to him being English, the fact we were apparently 'reluctant' to sell and because it was a last minute buy in the window, with us knowing full well they would have a large sum of money in the bank following the Torres deal. I think we'll struggle to get anyone as good as him, but we should be able to get a more than able striker and another decent player for the money. What I have a problem with, is that we will only spend that £35m (allegedly going to cover wages and fees as well), yet we needed to spend around £20m this summer regardless of who we sold. Now it's looking like Jose will follow suit and leave so we will need another left back in as well. Not overly optimistic about the summer I must say. I'm fairly open minded, but it looks as if those predicting that we're going to become a selling club and MA just wants to asset strip us might actually be right? Who knows, we'll find out by September I suppose.

Who is judging him on one game then?

    Alan Pardew

Like I said, unfair to judge him just yet. I just hope that he learns from his mistakes, as the tactics and team selection was all wrong before a ball was even kicked in those games.

    Alan Pardew

Is anyone else a bit worried with some of his team selections of late? He's had his hands tied with the players available, but some of the line ups we've seen have had me a bit goosed. S.taylor at right back, Simpson right wing against Everton. The 3-5-2 at Stoke, and then including S.Taylor against Villa which shifted our best defender to centre mid. We've not exactly got a great defensive record, but our back 4 usually looks fairly solid, it certainly does when compared to some of our defences in recent years. However, Pardew, for whatever reason has tinkered with it in the 3 games mentioned and we've shipped 7 goals against pretty mediocre opposition. In all 3 there was a chance to just play someone like Ferguson, Guthrie or even Raylor. The last two mentioned are not the most talented I know, but I don't think it would have had such big effect on the team and they would have been compotent at filling in on the flanks. Jury is still out on Pardew. We have improved in some areas and it's unfair to judge him just yet. Will be interesting to see what happens in the summer. I quite enjoyed his phone in, but at the same time he's constantly contradicting himself and I feel he tries to hard to give the fans good news. Just feels like a massive kick in the bollocks when his comments end up being well wide of the mark.
  12. He's not been in any of the training pics since he got the mysterious thigh injury before the Everton game. What a load of bollocks.
  13. What ever do you mean? We've got the Geordie Pele, Loverman and Leon Best, they're world class players. O and Ranger......
  14. I can see us signing someone like him or Carlton bloody Cole. I'm prepared for this and they're realistic targets for our club and supposed wage budget. Hardly my first choice, but Doyle would be an improvement and can play up top on his own. I think he's a half decent player myself. I honestly think those expecting some marquee signing to replace Carroll are in for a big shock. Hope I'm wrong mind.
  15. Going with realistic suggestions, seeing as I am skeptical about how the money will be spent and the type of player we can attract, I think Doyle is a good shout. Other threads have us talking about Lukaku, Gameiro and whoever else is good on Football Manager. Feel free to kill me now.
  16. It might be a coincidence, but the two times he has captained the side (Villa and Spurs) he's been one of the worst players on the pitch. In both games he was too preoccupied in trying to wind others up, play every position on the pitch, bollock team mates for nothing in particular and try and ref the game himself. Got to love his fight and detrmination, but he needs to tone it down. I'm a massive fan of Joey, met him at Newmarket races and he 'seemed' like a stand up guy, didn't punch me or owt. However, if he carries on like he did yesterday against Man U he won't last 90 minutes.
  17. Extremely harsh I don't think so. He constantly stands off his man allowing them to get up a head of steam, he looks far too nervy going forward and he constantly slices the ball to nowehere in particular when put under pressure. Can't fault his workrate and attitude and he's superb in the air for his size, but I just don't rate him.
  18. Only seen him a few times and seen his goals and he looks half decent. However Samaras did ok in that league for a while!
  19. Simpson quicker than Enrique! Even though Jose is clearly the quickest player in the squad? Didn't he used to be a 100m sprinter back in Spain as well? Simpson is a poor player, he backs off too much, panics on the ball and struggles badly with his positional play. He's a very average footballer.
  20. If we're going to play the lone striker with HBA in the free role, then someone like Kevin Doyle might be worth a punt if Wolves go down. Shane Long perhaps, been linked a lot recently. Don't watch much SPL and it's hard to gauge quality of players up there, but I don't rate Bougherra at all. Remember him coming across as a total wanker last time we were linked. For those that do watch SPL what is Hooper like? Seems to score all types of goals and scored a shitload for a very poor team in the Championship. Still fairly young as well I think.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

"Sheikh Tioté" He's that important now, he's more powerful than the ruler of Dubai.
  22. Not sure Callejon would hack it over here, very skillful and direct and pretty quick, but is one of the worst divers I have seen. Either has the pain threshold of a 6 year old school girl or he's just a fecking cheat!
