It was an Osula level fee and significantly less than what we’re going to get for Lloyd Kelly . We don’t seem to be capable of making those kind of punts on players from abroad for some reason.

they will score, no doubt. There’s only been one league game since the 30th of November where one of Isak/Gordon/Murphy hasn’t scored as well though. I don’t think their attack is loads better than ours despite them having arguably the best player in the world at the moment. They have Van Dijk as well who is colossal and miles better than any defender we have, but Isak gave him massive problems like I’ve not seen before in the 3-3. We have the away game in the league to help Eddie have another go at figuring them out too.

I’m still unconvinced that Liverpool are all that good tbh. They have a good squad depth and I think that’s showing more than anything this season compared to other clubs who’ve all bizarrely gone with next to no depth (Arsenal and Man City have absolutely tiny squads). Chelsea are another one who are benefitting from being able to rotate regularly, and even Forest to an extent. Think we can at least match them if we turn up at our best and everyone is fit.

These are two monumental feats that would make any manager’s career had they achieved either.

our problem is currently Forest’s advantage - the way teams play against us. Middling teams will still play Forest and try to dominate the ball, but only a handful of legacy top 6 sides will try and do that to us, especially at SJP. Having the ball has always been the biggest problem under Howe . We’re so much better without it.

yeah, I’ve heard this explanation and it doesn’t make much sense to me. Gordon was going to be sold but we sold Minteh and Anderson instead to solve that one. The Gordon rumours had gone died down before we started bidding for Guehi. Was similar with Isak who wasn’t really linked strongly anywhere, but there were tenuous links to Liverpool around the same time as the Gordon links. This was all during the Euros. We were still going after Guehi in August. Likewise Bruno’s release clause had expired long before we were bidding for Guehi. I think it’s probably more likely we that we have to get maximum value for money with our signings, and that’s hard to do in January so we’re just not bothering with incomings. Outgoings are fine because we can take advantage of some desperate teams. The problem I have with that approach is that we need some quality to come in this season. Everyone will want out come summer if we don’t have Europe again.
