If we have to change the system or approach to suit a player, then the player actually has to be good enough to justify that, and Woltemade - who I’m seemingly more of a fan of than most - hasn’t looked that good. The only mismanagement of Woltemade was taking him out of the team when a clearly nowhere near ready Wissa was available for selection. The rest that’s lacking - the physicality, the technical ability, the desire, the aggression - is all on Woltemade.

He has definitely been doing that since ~mid-December or so, yeah. Before that though I think we all saw a player who didn't do that. He often played first or second touch passes. So it's about how we get that player back, and trying to analyse what's changed.

I think we probably just about do enough to win the game if Ramsey doesn't go off sick at HT btw . Was an unbelievable downgrade in the second half having to swap him for Willock, going from someone who keeps the ball so well to someone who gives it away for fun is a killer.

he played really well in the 8 role against Villa and Spurs, so he has shown he can play there. Seemed to let his poor game against Qarabag midweek affect him a lot though and that carried through to today. Does seem to have a pretty major mentality issue though tbh. Gets knocked by poor performances/play pretty easily, and in terms of on the pitch he plays with zero aggression. Can't continue like that.

reposting this again, really. The errors for this season were all made in the summer, and some go back further to Mitchell/Eales being continuously bad at their jobs. It goes without saying that Howe has done enough here to deserve another shot at it with an actual backroom team in place. edit: people can feel how they feel but try to take a moment to consider things.
