I don't think Arsenal would be thinking about him if he was technically crap. People didn't think Rice was technically up to it at that level when they signed him and look at him now. Tonali has been poor this season with the ball but it wasn't so much of an issue last season, which speaks to a wider issue with the side imo.

Think you can pretty much guarantee - given his general ideology - that Sir Jimmy will be giving out contracts that are heavily incentivised

yeah, for all our dominance in the first 30 we didn’t actually create much. Had loads of corners but they were poor, which is a shame because they’ve been much better the last month or so.

I don’t really understand what’s changed because it used to be a big strength of ours. We could go ahead and kill games off either by being clinical or seeing out a clean sheet. I suppose the obvious one is the lack of a top level striker. Honestly what I’d give for a 22-23 Calum Wilson atm… This season a lot of players just shit the bed. I said it last night but I think we miss players like Schar and Joelinton who but their bodies on the line and lead the rest of the team with that kind of never say die mentality. Having Ramsey/Willock instead of Bruno also didn’t help in that regard. I don’t know. Maybe some of the players are a bit too comfortable and a refresh is needed.

I hate seeing him come off the bench, mind. He never impacts a game positively at all and it pretty much always marks our surrendering of the match. Play him from the start or not at all. Personally I think he should just be starting as many games as possible atm. Get him a goal and some confidence back.

Konate was their best player, like. Intercepted pretty much everything and nullified our pace threat in the second half.

We were great for the first 30 minutes, which is why I find it hard to lay any of the blame with the manager tbh. The approach to the game was spot on. They hit us with two sucker punches, and unfortunately I think you can lay both at Trippier’s feet. The players just folded after that. I really like him as a player but tactically it doesn’t look like he knows how to play in a 3 at all yet really. When he gets the ball it’s good but he went missing in and out of possession after the equaliser.

I think you can lay the subs onwards on Eddie but that’s about it. Nothing wrong with the approach at all, which worked very well until we scored. The players just absolutely lose their minds once they go in front this season for some reason. I think that’s why it’s been so frustrating this season - you can see what we’re supposed to be doing most of the time and then the players just crumble under pressure. We really miss Schar and Joelinton imo. These are the guys with the mentality we need.
