I'd actually like to see us go to a back 5 and play on the counter earlier in games, given how this season has gone. We've never done it to protect a lead really, only ever done it after the opposition has equalised and we're trying to rescue a point.

he isn't the perfect Howe striker at all. He fits the team well but as an actual individual he isn't very good at all.

Who’s to say I guess. Kane only got a chance in the first team because expensive signings like Soldado flopped hard, and Adebayor iirc. In another timeline Soldado was a success and Kane is just loaned out again until his contract expires or something. I recall some Arsenal fans wanting Arteta to give Saliba a chance in the first team before his loan to Marseille instead of the likes of Holding or Cedric getting as many minutes as they got. Who’s to say they couldn’t have had an extra season out of him at a high level. But regardless, I’m not saying it never works because clearly it has. I just don’t think the success rate is worth the risk. If you rate a player highly then get them involved and give them a taste of the level they need to be at instead of spending big money and wages on, ie, a 6th choice midfielder. yeah, if he’s as good as it sounds then he should be getting some minutes soon. No need for 6 senior CMs next season with no Europe so would be the ideal opportunity really. Not convinced the loan system is a good way to develop players at all, and not just because of our lack of success.
