Aye. Tore his hamstring at the U21 Euros. Supposed to be bad enough to miss the start of the season at least.

Nor of 97/98 United top scorer, John…
-
Supposedly he’s turned down a massive Saudi contract specifically in order to play for a CL team. If money was the object, he’d have been signing for Al-Nassr
-
Ok, I’d be surprised if he’s on that either. But he’ll never be getting CL at Palace, will he?
-
Obviously. But to say the clubs actions are wrong before a transfer out has occurred or a replacement signed (let alone integrated and played), as has happened with ASM is just wrong, imo. The proof on the success will be after the decisions have been taken, not before.
-
Obviously not. But it’s something different, probably similar wage to Palace, potential of a trophy or two, as well as probably playing in the Champions League if they get through the qualifiers. Lots more than staying at Palace.
-
That Palace are a shit mid table team at best?

Apologies needed from one or two posters towards pizza rob, I reckon.

Any one, and any club, can and will make a mistake, but with the amount of professionalism, determination, experience and dare I say it, money, behind the club right now it’s a world apart from the last 14 years of Ashley, Charnley, Bruce and the famous fax machine. When the present regime make a mistake, I’m sure they’ll be the first to try and rectify it. Some people have to let go of the past (including letting go of some players who were great for us one or two seasons ago), look forward to what the future holds and have some faith and confidence that the club know what they’re doing, at long last.

On Sky, tonight ?

And also doesn’t sell any players I like either.

As I’ve said, opinions are all well and good. Some posters take things either to extremes or just cross the line a little. Seems fairly common sense, but maybe that’s where I’m going wrong.
-
Opinion is all well and good, but stating the club is simply wrong or doing things incorrectly (like selling ‘world class’ ASM) takes it beyond that. They clearly weigh up all decisions taken using far more data, experience, skills and knowledge than all of us combined.

Why do you think the club are pursuing Livramento over the likes of Frimpong, if, according to yourself, he would be the better signing? you mention that the Frimpong fee would likely be slightly above that of Livramento. At the moment, it appears the Livramento transfer has stalled because Southampton do not want to accept our offer of paying via clauses most likely linked to appearances due to injury. The Frimpong fee would likely not include these clauses, so we would be paying the fee either all at once or in regular instalments which may not suit the club and its ffp requirements. Frimpong is 5’7” tall and Livramento is 6’ tall. It appears that Frimpong does not match the physical characteristics which the club is pursuing in this particular positional transfer. Livramento is a proven performer in the PL (if he can regain his pre-injury standard). Frimpong has played well in Scotland and now currently for Leverkusen, but there would still be a potentially small element of risk in whether he could transition to the more physical and demanding league in England. Livramentos current wage is around £7kpw. Frimpong is on around £25kpw. The club would potentially pay less for Livramento over the period of his contract should either sign for a pay rise.

Diaby signed for Villa

All well and good, but it would seem like Minteh is better than they have in any youth team, and will assist them in getting bigger up the league and into a European place? It’s the better result long term for the club having a good player come in on loan, rather than promote a mediocre or too youthful prospect for the sake of it, surely?

Southampton’s Salisu off to Fulham according to Sky
-
Same agent, so he’d be quids in…

Yep. Their total club income for 21/22 was around 60m- they only get around 8m for TV rights etc. Miles behind Ajax and PSV too. They seem like a well run great club these days (nearly went bankrupt in 2010), especially with Slot as manager. There’s a great article in The Athletic for anyone who’s interested- sounds like a perfect club for us to link up with. https://theathletic.com/4563217/2023/06/01/arne-slot-feyenoord-kickboxing-transfers/?amp=1
