Can't see Thauvin being brought in as a squad player so, assuming we aren't going 4-4-2, he'll play wide right of a 3 in a 4-2-3-1 and I don't think Moussa would cut it in the two. fwiw I do see Wijnaldum dropping into the two when he's up to speed with the premiership and De Jong is fit. I know he has no control over transfers. But the way he was talking was that he had no doubt about him staying, plus links to him leaving have died down a lot recently.

If we sign this lad we will have some actual strength in depth for attacking positions, albeit not a huge abundance of out and out wingers. Our defense however is shockingly bad, colo has been getting worse for the past 2 years or so and is still guaranted a start.

I disagree, he has (like many others) been criminally miss managed under Pardew and Carver. I think he could be a good player in this league in the right set up. Having said that if he wants to leave, I would rather he did.
