Had it have been race related, his feet wouldnt have touched the ground. As it is, the FA have just rubber stamped thuggery.

The linesman on both sides had a clear view of both major incidents. Like I've suggested before though has Halsey instructed his lino's to keep their involvement to line calls and offsides only. Some referee's do it this way. The referee at the mackem game was happy to allow his lino's the opportunity to help him as many would suggest they should. Do refs work with the same lino's week in week out? The term "assistant referee" has been used for some while & their function is to do absolutely that: Assist the referee However, the incident yesterday merely served to underline the inadequate & inconsistent nature of the the modern officialls. We now see many occasions when ignorance is applied in the face of blatant incidents & subjective calls given to debatable hand balls etc. The linesman in this case had a clear veiw & chose to ignore it, for whatever reason, though my call is that he seen it for what it was & shirked his responsibility. As such he should be branded a coward, like Macmanaman.

Absoloutely not, all he does is identify the players & the Chairman does the rest. He is completely blameless, jesus, ask Jamie / most of ssn / talkshit if you dont believe him

Harry leaned out of the window and took his head off on a lamp post. I`m supprised he`d be prepared to open it & miss all that valuable licking time

Despite clear footage to the contrary. Ok then... Aye you could see Pardew going nuts on the sidelines in the last 15 or 20 minutes because of the hoofing. It clearly wasn't a gameplan at all, and just the sign of a nervous team desperate for a win. The first half performance was entirely down to luck too. The first half performance was down to Pardew setting us up well, as he did against Reading. The 2nd half performance was down to him undoing his good work. Really? I think it was more to do with us not being able to weather the (somewhat inevitable) storm with a couple of poor decisions (one from Debuchy in particular). You watch the premiership every week, and you see a losing team spring out the traps second half all the time. It's about weathering the storm for more than a couple of minutes. I have no doubt that if we had made it to about 60 mins without conceding we would have won much more comfortably. Villa would have burnt out and we would have started playing again. As it was, we shot ourselves in the foot 3 mins into the second half, which set us on the back foot for the rest of the game. You may be right, but I've never seen Villa dominate to such an extent over a 50 minute period. Its no coincidence we constantly make poor sides look good, its down to Pardew's moronic choices and tactics. We can win games that mask his deficiencies, but these deficiencies will not go away no matter how much you ignore them. Pardew is just limited and while he's here we won't get the best from these players. It wasn't Villa's "brilliance" or our players faults that Cisse ended up on the wing, Shola was brought on to play CF, Mbiwa was brought on into midfield and Gouffran and Sissoko was taken off eliminating any pace we had. These were all Pardew decisions and we keep seeing them week in week out, be naive if you must but the same mistakes are being repeated it has nothing to do with the players being nervous its to do with the Pardew and his moronic decisions. It is no coincidence these things keep happening and don't be surprised if they continue to happen as they have done so for the majority of Pardew's time here. To argue Pardue instructed his players to play in a different manner / formation that they did in the second half assumes they are either blatantly ignoring him & his instructions or they were just incapable of doing so. So which one was it?

Out of interest, do you think he tells them to retreat and hold onto the lead and play possession football or does he tell them to retreat and hold onto the lead by panicking and hoofing the ball to the opposition? Both, when stress is slightly applied and we are in the lead or holding out for a drawn, we will sit deep and the players will drop dribbling forward. Just watch the last 20 games again. in the second half our players stop dribbling up the field and choose to hold positions. Its exactly why we start hoofing it. GO watch the Game stop being muppets of Pardew when you guys dont actually watch it properly. This I`m not sure how much of the second half panic came accross on telly, but it was painfull to watch. I had my eye on Pardue & he never semed at all upset about hoofed balls up to Shola which were bouncing back with alarming regularity. No matter what their tactics & tempo they adopted in the second half, we should have had enough in our "locker" to tackle, play, frustrate & threaten with good counter-attacking football. To say we were lucky to get the three points in an alarming understatement.

The ref had a good game tonight apart from the penalty tbf

No he didn't, he replaced them with players you don't like, end of, there is no balanced view, just reactionary nonsense. Where's the Debuchy outrage for last night, when does Santon get as much stick as Williamson (coz sure as hell he's cost us as many, if not more, goals this season as Williamson has). Impartial views: Nigel Pearson Talkshite: "I though Newcastle were excellent" BBC text - "Newcastle retaining the ball much better in the final third since Ameobi came on" Looks like I missed the drug party at the beeb last night then

The clue to effective attacking / counter attacking was there for all to see in the first half....ball to feet, pass and move. I remain utterly perplexed as to why he found any footballing logic in bringing on shola to encourage hopeless long balls which, as has been the trait of our season & the reason we've three games away. It's not on to be shifting yourself for 40 minutes of a half when your playing teams which are frankly shite-proven by the pasting we dished out in the first half.
-
Too much emphasis on formations here for my liking. I accept that the formation can often dictate the manner of play but for the love of God...Play it on the floor man!!. If we resort to containment & long ball we`ll deserve & probably end up with f*** all.
