  2. Haven't trawled through the last few pages but I can't be the only one to be impressed by that Kone chap. It's a shame DW won't entertain the fat bloke for a bit of bargain business as he would be high on my list for a punt this January.

I wouldn`t consider a dip in form* at the begining of December a relegation scrap. Mind you, looking at the upcomming fixtures, a humping or two prior to & over the festive period (which could well be on the cards) & it could all go wrong again by next May. January will be a pivotal month. */ mostly shit so far this season

    St James' Park

Was "reliably informed" they didnt have the budget for both shirt & Stadium sponsorship (based on Lambias aspirations of what he envisaged they would yield) I also had Jimmy Saville down as a bummer.

    St James' Park

Wonga DO NOT have the funds available to present a viable offer to sponsor the shirts & stadium. (Not according to the kind of dough the club were making noises about trying to yield for naming rights etc). Furthermore, If the club has genuine aspirations to compete at 'the top table' then this association would not fit the kind of model Ashley / Lambias are keen to promote. Though I have to admit, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could shit on them.

Can this not have its own thread so we can get back to slagging them off (guilt free)?

    Hillsborough

The Liverpool fans surged forward into an area that was, effectively, a death trap. Had they not done so, there would have been no tragedy. No loss of life etc. The polices / authourites involvement offers mitigation to the supporters, but does not alter the fact that had there been no surging in the crowds entering the stadium, there would have been no tragedy. The most pertinent pint here is NOT that they behaved badly, they behaved as everyone up and down the country did at the time, its that the situation wasnt managed properly. I have my feelings on LFC on record here, but I still feel its in pretty poor taste to focus on the supporters behaviour, given the latest revelations.

It has been reported that Thatcher was breifed by Bernhard Ingham about the likelyhood of a cover up. I will try & find a link. Taken from a telegraph article yesterday: "Even Margaret Thatcher's press chief told her at the time, in notes obtained by the panel, that the police's "defensive - and at times close to deceitful - behaviour" sounded "depressingly familiar". "

Let it also be known that Thatcher had been briefed on the likelyhood that the Police had been complicit in a cover up & was culpable for a great deal of what went on that day. But chose to keep it under wraps. For that alone, The fucking Witch should dragged out of her piss stained bed & charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

    Hillsborough

Yes. It talks about how the authorities tried - and failed - to smear fans by taking blood samples from the dead (including a 10-year-old) to test for alcohol levels. What were the findings of said blood samples from the dead and any other tests/investigations they did? The general sobriety of the crowd was irrelevant. Having a beer with your mates etc. before a match is the law as far as i`m concerned. Crowd "mentality" does not rely on large groups of pissed people in order to present problems of order.

    Players in public

It all goes through a shitty site called applausestore.com, if you ever want any tickets for stuff like that, there's also lostintv.com which does stuff for the Apprentice - You're Fired here and tvrecordings.com for other shows. It can be pretty tight getting people in without a ticket Have they just opened a store in Birmingham Bull ring?

I cant help noticing a less beligerant tone in the last few pages of this thread. I can only voice my own opinion, which hasnt changed in light of todays events, that whilst it seems there is no doubt that the Liverpool fans were complicit by their sheer numbers & "enthusiasm" in attempting to get into the ground (their sobriety is irrelevant in my opinion), this was no different to how many behaved up & down the country in that era. I have no time for the club & find the fans delutional opinion of their stature in todays game laughable but I shuffle that to one side when absorbing the true accounts of that day. behaving like a 1980`s football fan should not have been a sentence to death. Also, it cant be becouse I`m a couple of decades older (& wiser?) that it seems the difference in Police attitudes towards the Public has changed beyond recognition: The polar opposite from that of Thatchers Britain. Awaydays were a completely different propostion from the sanitised corprate fayre on offer today. Coppers with a "miners strike" metality had scant or no regard for the welfare of fans. Akin to cowboys coralling cattle in the wild west. This was a scandal waiting to happen & stands as a model in how not to police / steward a football match. Some consolation, but at least this stood as a catalyst to the changes we now see in ground safety & attitudes towards fans in general. Though It is still a "work in progress" in my opinion. Oh, & what a c0ck Kelvin Mckenzie is.
  16. Even Kenny Rogers advocated violence in certain circumstances. if not now...when?
  17. What I would give to witness him getting a good `70s kicking - preferably on the pitch. You know the type: owen bent over being held by the hair by two or three lads who are kicking him in the heed scarves a fluttering. (starred jumper & high-waisters optional, of course)

    Deadline Day Thread

I never saw Carroll to West Ham comming. On that basis alone & going on recent windows, there really are only a few real players in the last day window game & a plethora of blaggers. That said, I predict no one of note....or possible the french lad Debuchy. ( Partridge did hint at cover for RT...although that will almost certainly be in the Shefti Kuchi mold.) Hold on to your buts?
  20. It looks like its close my eyes & hum for 5inutes time...I cant take anymore
  21. This looks like a stiffs game with a big crowd...reckon it's in the balance tbf
