for all the praise arsenal get for scoring lot of set pieces they do look out of ideas in open play. I just dont know if you can grind out leagues like this anymore, liverpool are breezing past everyone too easily and you will always drop points when you make such hard work of it. I dunno think its just the gap from liverpool (and normally man city) to the rest of the league is so great you can't leave this many points up for grabs.

I am not and never will be on the end of the spectrum that managers shouldnt try and play a certain way, but there is a rise of this ridiculous obstinacy. Vincent Kompany furthered his career by playing a certain way at burnley completely fucking over that club and their fans (and it annoys me still that a) he isnt called out on it much and b) it fucking worked and he's at bayern somehow). Russell Martin does brilliantly to get southampton promoted but insists on playing out from the back probably fully aware its not working but clearly thinking rightly he was bound to get sacked and will do his brand no harm. I have sympathy, hes out a job cos he did his job too well last season, but its not fair on their fans. Amorim probably ought to temporarily rejig as he hasnt got wingbacks but he won't and big ange will not teach hs players to defend cos apparently defending is winning the wrong way. I mean i do have sympathy with their injury list, and they played better than i expected actually which shows some credit, unfortunately they are really blunt. Absolutely. We are not blessed with many high quality centre backs. Suspect he wont make it just cos he looks like a big old fashioned agricultural centre half and noone will get past that. Such a good personality to have in a squad too
