  1. Can see Jonas going left midfield instead of Ba and Perch dropping into holding midfield alongside of Tiote, would be a more defensive 4-3-3 reasonable away to chelsea imo
  2. we'll get slung out of tournaments anyway wish media would realise manager at international level isn't able to really shape their own side anyway, best idea is to appoint some experienced old manager whose pretty competant and let him get on with it and acknowledge that when we crash out of tournament, unless of a catestrophic error of judgement on part of manager, bloody ell that's football, or it's the players fault.
  3. Wouldn't get relegated just to win the Carling Cup, just ask Birmingham fans Placing on the table is a point of pride, provides extra income and helps get players to the club, and keep them there. It is hardly unimportant, and besides it gives the most accurate barometer of the quality of any team.
  4. that Cleverly looked promising, pity his season fell apart from injury, could well stifle his career and not sure if seen enough now.
  5. Carroll is the best passer liverpool have What exactly does Shelvey do?
  6. Don't know, maybe so people don't realise they're playing fulham too?
  7. you can just hear Dagliesh shouting GO ON ANDY, just sounds like a mad fan XD
  8. Have to say the segment on Hodgson on the usually meh football weekly is excellent.
  9. He's adored by shit journos because he is very willing to talk all the time, wouldn't surprise me if Redknapp, presumably furious behind closed doors, has told journos if they ever want a favour out of him again they should give Hodgson a hard time. Pathetic though, it's the pretense that they are some kind of voice of the people, journalists are the eyes and ears of the public (as I have been taught on my journo course lol) not the voice.
  10. Borussia Dortmund's wages are very impressive for a league winning side
  11. Capello valued experience more than youth imo and that was the principle failure of his time managing England, tactically he was fine imo, unambitious but can't afford to be in a limited team, just tried to get the team organised well. Roy will do the same and hopefully bring some promising youth players in though. Still don't expect, the primary problems of England are shoddy attitude by over-rated players
  12. Defoe up front for England :dispair: Canny team, though. Probably best option available. How many times do we need to try and have Lampard and Gerrard in the same team? Even getting round that probably exaggerated problem how many times are we going to believe it won't be like last time and these players will show up this time? Lampard credit to him has been alright but they're long since past caring internationally.
  13. This, better than Carroll stumbling around, a good balance.
  14. every fucking cup need english big man up front to boss foreign defenders...then we can never get it to the big man up front
  15. His performance directly relating to the league position of the opponent law is holding true, dire vs Wigan, so hopefully good again against chelsea
  16. I've lost a lot of faith in Sturridge this season, Young makes some sense, Oxlaide Chamberlain needs to play a big part, we haven't got enough good players to leave him on the bench due to his relative inexperience imo. Up front...Am I alone in thinking Holt? Imo should be mooted.
  17. Redknapp would have told all the players to do what they want and we would have got thrashed, Roy is a sensible choice in that he'll probably try and get us solid at the back and get the odd goal from a break or set piece, not saying he is a bad manager but that's the best really possible from a team that so desperately lacks cohesion and technical ability. Capello was on the right path in a way but never mastered the defensive solidity needed, and new players need to be brought in and the backline kept relatively stable rather than tinkered with. Hopefully Hodgson will be willing to look beyond london and manchester for players. We won't play champagne footy though, and loads of people will complain forgetting that we haven't got a team capable of playing champagne footy.

    Alan Pardew

Yeah absolutely, at the very least having Jonas and Tiote ahead of usual defense should give enough protection to stop us conceeding so much, anymore, no-one would have been for going more defensive.
  19. Well that's a slight victory for decency, but sad it was even mooted
  20. It must be annoying for a Wigan fan though, knowing they can play like that then for 3/4s of the year just being a bit boring. If they could do that with any kind of consistency they'd be where we are. What, 4th? Wouldn't go that far like. Plus their team gets robbed of its best players every summer. Well I think that their team gets robbed every summer is why they can't play with that kind of consistency

  22. Not working out on the left when he's called on to defend, as may be expected really. Think Pards needs to learn this in future if keeps trying him there, not against quick sides!
  23. I think tbh it was less the pressure of champions league as us not being able to deal with being behind in a game.
  24. To be fair he was for most the game playing an unfamiliar role, but yes poor game.
