He hasn't got the pace/acceleration/direct running ability to be a productive winger in this league. I think his best position would probably be in a free role behind the main striker but I'd have Ayoze/De Jong/possibly Gini ahead of him; that €17m would have been so much better spent elsewhere.

Clyne and Bertrand clean sheets ruined as well Ayew 9, Hart 6 and 2's/1's from everyone else, bah.

Don't know too much about it but they made poor managerial appointments after the CL win and starting spending above their means bringing players in on absolutely huge wages. Ended up slipping down the league and constantly changing managers whereas the 'big name' players earning huge pay packets weren't performing at all and happy just to pick up their wage every week. Completely put them in financial ruin. Ended up with them nearly going under in 2002 (I think). Ever since then they've had a different approach of being a lot more cautious with their money, it's only really changed in the past 2 years or so where they have started spending big transfer fees again but this is money mostly recouped from player sales and good league/cup/European campaigns.

Players seem to be staying in hotels tonight going off SDJ's snapchat. Sure I read on The Chronicle website they were scrapping that this year.

Sherwood was always going to be a horror appointment imo. I think it was pretty much guaranteed that he would give that short term boost (no relegation and a cup final was quite an achievement) but I would never have fancied a full season under him, he doesn't seem to have any tactical nous apart from throw as many attackers on as possible and hope for the best. He'll be lucky to get another job after Villa.
