I think he's been pretty sharp most of the season tbh, it's just his overall end product has been lacking. No sign of him being a natural/predatory finisher but he's really making a positive contribution to our forward play. Not just his finishing but i feel like his passing has been hit/miss too, but his work rate and overall contribution to the team off the ball has been very good most of the season imo.

They are another West Ham IMO, their team is nowhere near as good as people think and most of their players are massively overhyped because they have been failed young talents at some point. Which is why they underperform every year, sure the managers are shit but it's not the full story IMO. Even if Benitez was their manager i doubt they'd do that much better tbh.

It's way too early to be jumping to any sort of conclusions with regards to Barca, considering Madrid handled them pretty easily and Juventus were missing half a team. Besides it's not like Messi hasn't single handledly won games by himself in the group stage before.

I worry that Shelvey would make Merino do far too much defensively tbh, honestly any combination you like has it's faults that we are going to have to live with in the short term.
