Put it this way Butland would have saved it, tbf to him a couple of saves after that were great and he's fine enough shot stopper for things at decent height but when it comes to low shots he's pretty bad and it won't be the last time we see it this season.

I don't because Rafa will know that neither Merino or Shelvey are comfortable playing that far forward which will cause the striker being isolated. I'm sure Rafa wants a 10 who can contribute goals and creativity but for now he'll be happy we have someone in Perez who at least does the defensive part he wants. Form permitting I don't think much will change.

It's just a team which has no pace or balance, none of the signings are bad in isolation but in terms of working around a team dynamic it's awful.

Seen him do loads of Shelvey type passes mind, which is why I need to see more. I think he has the ability to do that type of pass, it just isn't usually the best option but I need to see more to be certain.

Not sure I agree, he's probably picked out every type of pass you can think of so far. Thing is because of how we have to play he's not had the opportunity to show it as consistently as Shelvey could in the championship. I'm basically not sure atm with regards to Shelvey being a better passer.

But they'd started this season well, they'd just beat Arsenal and got a draw against a Man United side that had been steamrolling teams.
