I agree that we should prioritize a forward and a defender over a midfielder but lets not kid ourselves.... The midfield is terribly unbalanced and Cabaye's injury has shown just how much..... how many CM's do we have outside of Cabaye? not less creative players? the mere fact we are relying on Marveaux for creativity at the moment says it all. It's ok playing with DM's like Tiote and Anita if they is someone like Cabaye in front of them but otherwise how can you expect to create chances with a midfield full of DM's? If we can get a CM within our budget i hope we do, one of the biggest issues this season has been control and creativity. There's no point buying defenders either if we continue to get overrun in midfield every week.

A lot of people were turned off because of his supposed heart problems.... i think performing how he is might make bigger teams take the plunge. I agree it's most likely rubbish but mainly due to his wages rather the the price.

It might not be because when i heard about his clause being 7m i googled it and a west ham forum came up and they said it's around 4m. If it's true i hope we buy him from what i have seen that's a bloody bargain.

Unfortunatly at the moment you are a LOT better than us. If we play in similar way to how we played against Wigan and similar system with Ben Arfa coming in then maybe we might win but i have my doubts.

Honestly whether he's inconsistent is irrelevant really.... without Cabaye in the middle we lack any creativity at all and thus he's very important till January and we buy someone or February when Cabaye comes back.

Are we still criticising individuals then? Let's be fair, there's something deep-rooted and intrisically wrong with our preparation, tactics and general attitude to matches that has left even our best players looking poor this season. I don't even feel like picking on players when collectively there is so much wrong with the team. Look how much better people like Marveaux and Anita were on Monday when we played even marginally more like a football team.

I don't really want Lazio tbh, i would rather take my chances in eastern Europe than play them. Strongest side on paper in the section IMO.

I don't know, that 'Newcastle' team (sp?) seem like a soft mark that will give you the ball all day long. Unseeded is definitely stronger for me.... by finished 2nd we avoided Inter, Ajax, Atl Madrid, Leverkusen, Napoli.... I don't see any stronger teams we can face in seeded section.

Looking at the seeded and unseeded teams i don't see a great deal of difference between the two tbh and arguably unseeded has stronger teams and Atletico are currently unseeded too. 2nd might be a blessing in disguise.

I couldn't be less arsed if i tried tbh....we have qualified and the difference between unseeded and seeded isn't a great deal. I'm more annoyed with Brugge and Maritimo performances than this.

Aye, Campbell might give us a bit more mobility up top. Still think we need Ranger to play a bit narrower though, he's playing like a winger at the moment. Makes sense since he's on the wing.

Yep i'm concerned about that as well. Definitely but on a whole im happy with the team.

Aye i think we should start doing this more often... if the system and style of play from the youth teams to the first team is the same then it will make the step up much easier. I like the team too, stronger than i expected.
