Not surprised by that lineup - going for the work hard, keep it tight and play it long approach. Going to be a long afternoon. -

We've only won 1 of our last 7 home league games, the aggregate score in which is 5-15. We're shit, basically. -

Can't remember the last time I was so unenthusiastic about a Newcastle game, at least the early kickoff leaves the rest of the weekend free. -
If the crowd gets nasty it will be directed at Ashley not Pardew. He could start with Tim Krul up front and no one would say anything against him at the ground. I actually think getting at Ashley is the best chance there is of shifting Pardew - he knows the spotlight only turns on him when the team is doing shite so may well see a change of manager as a shortcut to getting the fans off his back again.

Can see us putting up a decent resistance for 20 minutes or so, Mourinho will make a small tactical adjustment leading to us conceding a soft goal then we'll completely retreat to try avoid a humping. End up losing 2-0 and the manager will say we were unlucky. It's the Pardew way. -
That's a fantastic effort - that quote always brings a lump to the throat. There's a good chance the stadium gestapo will be primed to remove copies of the paper mind, so might be worth just taking the front page folded up in your pocket, they can't search everyone that thoroughly!

The criticism is for his starting line-up, and for his subs. Why on earth take Dummett off who was providing natural left-sided width? Bring Remy on and take Sissoko off. Tiote maybe if he wants to wrap him in cotton wool for Saturday. Unless Remy was carrying a slight knock, there's no reason why he shouldn't have come on in the second half. I know what you mean, I just think realistically we're losing this game no matter what Pardew does. And at least we weren't embarrassed, which I expected beforehand. I'm aware there's a pretty good chance I'm guilty of having my expectations lowered.

Fucking hate Man City like. Especially the fans that demonstrate a complete lack of self awareness, and celebrate in the pub like they've won the world cup. Well done, you beat us. Both your goalscorers cost more than our entire team put together. Again, well done.
-
We did OK. Looked interested at least. If it was a league game though they would've swatted us aside comfortably, daft to pretend otherwise. Harsh to criticise Pardew for not being able to beat Man City though, far better to judge him on the games he should be winning. Like the derby.
-
This isn't going to end well. No creativity in the side at all - can only think he's going for the sit deep and hit long balls for Shola masterclass.
-
tbf the crap Rangers have had to deal with puts our shit in perspective - Ashley hasn't had us relegated to League 2 just yet!
-
Aye, he's really earned a start with his high-octane showing in the second half of the derby.

Given a 7 month prison sentence: http://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/update/2013-10-28/tiote-goven-seven-month-suspended-sentence/? Fortunately it's suspended.....

Man City have been poor away from home this season - 1 win in 5 and will likely be resting several of their big names. No reason we can't have a real go. Don't think we will though.
-
The question then becomes what will his response be. Will he realise he's not wanted, pack up quietly and go away. Or will he react like a petulant small child and do more stupid things that will damage the club and fans even more - I reckon it's a real worry what he could be capable of...
-
Fucking hell, what a horrifying stat that is.
-
It's true like - couldn't believe how much Krul was dawdling over his goal-kicks at 1-1, game was there for the taking and we just didn't want it. Pardew was happy just to avoid another defeat and it bit him on his cowardly arse big time. It's got him back into 3rd favourite in the sack race - still only 6/1 though: http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/next-manager-to-leave-post
-
Never mind not going, don't think I can even bring myself to watch this on the telly - it'll be another SJP tame surrender followed by dry humping.

This. What makes it even worse is they looked dead on there feet after 70 mins or so It's been a trait of the mackems' season that once they concede, they collapse. Unfortunately that tends to require the other team to attempt to put a foot on their throat, whereas when we scored, we helped them up, apologised and promised not to do it again. Spot on. Didn't think we even really deserved the equaliser tbh but once it went in they were the very definition of a team there for the taking, they had completely shot their bolt. Unfortunately we seemed to think a point would actually be quite nice and made no discernible effort to go on and finish the job. We willingly removed the bloke who has 50% of our premier league goals from the pitch with 20 minutes to go ffs.
-
Well now they've got nothing to lose I look forward to some in-depth, insightful reporting by the local scribes on the current sorry state of the club....
-
They played a bog standard 4-4-2 and worked hard. That was it. That's all they had to do to beat us. And Pardew had no answers. Well, not to the questions that were being asked anyway.
-
He's clearly badly out of form but appears to have zero appetite to rectify the situation - may as well have been playing with 10 men second half.
-
That is spot on. Never thought I would care so little after a derby defeat. What's the point?
-
We might be 11th in the table but we're only 3 points off the bottom 3 and have zero points coming in the next 2 games. Going to be another long, hard, shit season.
