I thought Burnley were down before today but they seem to have more fight than the other teams down there and only 1 of their last 9 is against any of the top 5.
  4. Wow - that's a stunning result for Burnley. City didn't even really put them under that much pressure.

  6. Nah we're alright - there's no way Burnley, Hull and the mackems are all getting more than 35 points.
  7. His record would be excellent if you hadn't somehow conspired to lose to a Newcastle side managed by John Carver!

    John Carver

This appointment is such a big moment for the club, even the most rabid pro-Ashley fan I know (there are some still out there) admitted that if they appoint Carver then he's done. Problem is it's never been easier to stay in the league - the 3 promoted teams look like going straight back down this year, and that's going to become the norm as the cash gap gets bigger each year, so even if we do go with Carver actual relegation is unlikely, and just staying in the prem is all Ashley really cares about - he would rather gamble on the cheap appointment and know he can throw some cash at it in January if we do get into trouble.
  15. Top quality? Come on. There's not a lot to choose between him, Haidara and Dummett. Santon was given a lot of chances, but didn't make the sort of improvements that you'd want to see in a young player. Heard you saw worse in the 80s; can you confirm? Paul Stimson springs to mind. Others of my vintage will confirm. Seriously though, isn't this a case of Mbiwa-itis? Anyone who the club doesn't want must be good. Stimmo was a legend, even as a kid I was pretty confident I could do a better job than him at full back.

If only winning 2 games out of 10 isn't enough to lose him it then what the fuck will be??
  18. The pound has gained about 20% in value over the euro over the last few months, should make our bargain basement European shopping trips even cheaper.
  19. It's looking good for Rangers for now, but you would have to suspect Ashley still has some dirty tricks up his sleeve: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/11456113/Mike-Ashleys-Rangers-regime-terminated-with-brutal-efficiency.html

    Emmanuel Rivière

Just checked his record - the 10 goals he scored for us were the only Premier League goals of Leon Best's career. Other than that he averages around 1 in 5 at Championship and League One level. Riviere in his best season scored 13 in 36 for Monaco in Ligue 1, you would have to think his top level is better than Leon's.

I think there's been glimpses in the last couple of matches of him getting a little better, giving him pitch time can only help - he's still only started 8 Premier League games. At least if he gets a run of games now we should have a far better idea by the end of the season if he's worth persevering with.

    Papiss Cissé

Apparently they've changed the rules this season and doubled the ban for spitting.

Presumably his ban will be 7 games if the earlier one is taken into account as well.
