Except he’s 6 years younger than Wilson. Also think the permacrock label is a bit overblown. He missed half the season in each of 2021-22 and 2022-23 but has made at least 32 league appearances each year season since 2017-18, including last year. He’d be a decent addition as Isak’s #2.

The thought of Chelsea burning through or otherwise repelling managers and ending up with Pards is unreasonably funny.

I’m not sure riding the bench as a #3 GK does much for a young player’s development. Nor does it much benefit the team (what wisdom are most 18-year olds going to impart on their more seasoned colleagues?) Much rather than an experienced pro in the role, particularly one who’s a teacher of the game, and send the young guys out on loan to get game time.

Part of me is intensely irritated by the myopia of some of these clubs. There’s little to no thought of hiring a manager and allowing him the chance to build something. The only goal is to win immediately and at all costs, not recognizing that there are likely only a handful of managers capable of doing so anyway. It’s such a cynical, dipshit way to approach the game and would drive me absolutely crazy as a supporter To say nothing of ownership that insists on meddling directly in football affairs, rather than hiring a DoF to build a coherent footballing structure and working harmoniously with their manager.
