Agreed, he’s 2nd choice at best for a poor team at this level. As a 3rd striker who checks the “homegrown” box was my thinking.

At some point it seems like a no brainer to go back and get Armstrong and Woodman as squad fillers. Dunno if either is ready to ride the bench though.

A chance to win any trophy is a good thing. I won’t poo-poo European competition regardless of the caliber of the tournament…one of the few bright spots of the Ashley/Pards era was that EL run. It would be a great opportunity to get the younger players match time and tournament experience as well.

I like the flexibility Kelly brings. I dunno if he’s a guy we want as first-choice over the long run, but he’s a PL-quality CB who can also plug in at LB. At LB, he lets us go to a back 3 in attack, as Howe seems to like. Botman New CB Kelly Tosin That’s very good depth over the next few years.
