FFS I can't believe that shit

He is poor. Its the lack of pace and absolute zero recovery when beaten by his man. You are right about him doing good things. Hitler did good stuff to, gets rather overlooked somewhat though. That analogy is a combination of and Mind-numbingly awful.

Simpson is pretty clearly the victim of confirmation bias in that people only watch for the mistakes he makes. And then those mistakes are magnified because of their opinion of him. Rarely does he get credit for the positive things he does (which he does do).

I really don't know what Arsenal should do with their front 3. Podolski - Giroud - Walcott Gervinho - Podolski - Walcott Podolski - Gervinho - Walcott Hell we might even see Walcott as a center striker more this year.

Not sure I agree, they've lost RVP and Song but gained Podolski, Carzola, Giroud and Sahin. If those signings work out then I think they'll do pretty well. Exactly Podolski than anyone they played on the left season, Cazorla is better than Ramsey or Rosicky, Sahin is better than Song. Ok RVP is better than Giroud but the rest of the team is much better. As for a stopper, that only is relevant if they play direct and back to front, but if they play a possession game they don't need one. If you look at the majority of the best teams most of them don't have a destructive force in front of the back 4, it's simply not where football is going. Arsenal's problem is organisation, pressing and overall off the ball defensively as a whole team not any individuals IMO. If they can improve their organisation, pressing and overall off the ball defensive work as a team they will do well, but that's been the case for years. They have good individual defensive players but Wenger just doesn't seem focused on making them work as a unit and no player will magically fix that IMO. The best teams in the world can afford to not have a defensive destroyer because they have excellent back lines. Arsenal's back 4 is certainly suspect. Song was the missing link between the backline and attacking midfield, I'm not convinced Sahin can be that player (in terms of providing adequate defensive cover). Sahin is almost like-for-like with Wilshere. And I really think they're going to have problems finishing this year. Not really impressed by Giroud and neither Gervinho or Podolski are strikers.

That tubby lumpkins in the front row, bless his sweet heart

I feel dumber from having processed that train of thought. You can criticize both players on some level, but you can't deny that they both do the most important thing an offensive player can do: score.
-
Isn't the point of football to score goals? No. It's to score them and work as a team to prevent them. Defoe is a player that is carried for his goal scoring ability. Aside from that he offers zero. Somebody's gotta do it, won't be winning many games if you can't find the net. No matter how good your defense is. I don't care if a striker stands around jostling his balls for 90 minutes, if he puts the ball in the net with consistency, I want him on my side.

He's actually scored nearly 200 career goals. Means he's good. It means he was good today? He wasn't, he just shoots no matter what. And that's probably why he scores as often as he does. It's not as if he launches all his shots from 40 yards out, he's almost always having a go inside the 20. I mean, you really can't deny he was giving us fits today. Not an Adebayor performance thank Christ, but still troubling at times.
-
That's what he's there for though. He's not a world-beater by any means, but the guy is an opportunist who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. Far from shit.

Every time I see your avatar I can't help but picture Ted Danson kissing Tiote's head http://oceana.org/sites/default/files/blog/ted-danson-ocean-hero-lg.jpg

From a distance, that's about the only thing that sticks out. Thought the boys looked class today. Lighter top with black shorts and socks works great.

Krul Simpson Perch Williamson R. Taylor Tiote Anita Marveaux Obertan Ba Ferguson

Jesus wept I'd give 'em 20 quid for the entire squad.

May be the opening game of a long season, but we got 3 points from a team we should be neck-and-neck with the whole way.

Don't say anything negative, you'll be accused of wanting him shipped out off some knobhead. Somebody's a little butt hurt.

I would love nothing more than HBA having a brilliant season for us and snubbing the French team all the year. Greedy twats.

This.

I agree. Not deserving of the disproportionate amount of criticism he receives. Bale was pretty ineffective all day. We start to win football games and challenge the top teams and all of sudden Simpson is expected to be Ashley Cole going forward.

The pint guard is definitely Cabaye or Tiote, but the point is still somewhat valid. Ben Arfa is the one player in our team who is different from the rest. He regularly does things none of the other ten would think of trying. We need to give him space to operate and lead the team forward. He won't ask for the ball the majority of the time, but when he does, it should be given to him. Something is coming. Average performance, but a great result against a side that will be a direct rival if things go to plan. Two moments of brilliance from two people that will need to carry us on at least three fronts this season. For me, either HBA or Jonas play that PG role. Jonas is more of a Rondo type, not looking to score, but working hard to maintain possession and distribute. HBA is like CP3. Keeping us in the game, absolutely looking to score but more than capable of finding the right option. Tiote is Ron Artest. Ok wtf is a point guard? And if it's something to do with american football can we please never use it again... Brits and basketball HBA is absolutely the PG of this team.
