I've seen him in there a couple of times, must love the place.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/sunderland/8947206/Sunderlands-new-manager-Martin-ONeill-wants-team-to-play-the-Barcelona-way.html Good to see his plan is falling into place.

That is all I was trying to say, I agree with everything else that you've said. Racism is meant to be a thing of the past but you've only got to go to a couple of matches or watch a few games in a pub to know it is still alive and well.
-
I disagree, it is all about context and the intent of the person who said it. If my friends don't find it insulting or racist then why do you feel the need to jump to their defence? I'm not talking about singing songs to black players at a match or shouting abuse at a black man walking down the street, and I don't condone racism at all. You just seem to be putting shouting black cunt at a black player who I don't know on the same level as having a bit of a laugh with my friend. Thanks for that last sentence though, you clearly don't know me at all

What do you suggest we call people who use the colour of some one's skin to abuse or denigrate them? You've just proved my point. What you describe would be a racist yeah. You can bring up the colour of someones skin without being racist though.
-
I'll try and articulate my thoughts on this as best I can but they'll probably come out horribly wrong. Racism for me is all about context and the mindset of the person who is saying things. A child might call one of his friends a ginger idiot, and another of his friends a black idiot, that hardly makes him a racist. The two in the eyes of a child who holds no racial prejudices are just the same. The same goes for if I sing a song like the Kenwyne Jones one to one of my black friends, i'm not a racist and I don't mean it in a racially derogatory way. To me it is just the same as calling a mate with glasses Harry Potter or whatever. That obviously isn't to say that everyone who sings a song like that isn't a racist though, loads of people still are racist and will look down on black players. It annoys me that as soon as someone brings up the colour of someones skin everyone seems ready to pounce and call you a racist. I do still think that racism is a massive problem that needs to be dealt with, but skirting around the issue and being overly defensive about it to me isn't the way to tackle it.

First two seconds...STHUNDERLUN STHUNDERLUN...Hahaha. Clems. That ridiculous lisp. Haha. I'm the t*** asking him which year and if he was live, was wondering if it'd end up on youtube. I was just so baffled by them singing 9-1. Like, seriously - who does that? (I think in response to me he says on that video "a dunno what year".) "Which year it doesn't matter which year, it still happened" I'm actually annoyed that they think that is a viable insult tbh. Rattled. FTM.

Showed what we've been missing today. A class above and our best player imho.

Just seen it again but I can't post it here, but sorry no way is that a red card. He has been a liability at times this season but that is one of the weakest red cards you will see all season.

I need to watch if again but when I saw it I thought yellow at most. Larsson kicked Ameobi in the chest, but that went unpunished. Seemed to me like his reputation went before him. I'll decide when I see it on MotD later but on first viewing it seemed like a tackle which happens 20 times a game.

I hope that part isn't true.

Yeah I think RTG is like an alternate universe. I know plenty of very decent Sunderland fans, and they've never said anything like that. That place is just an echo chamber, they repeat things enough times until they become fact
-
I'd fucking love Jonas to score.
-
That 9-1 crack is so shite like, as if anyone cares. 5-1 = 9-1 =
-
Did that actually happen? West brom at home wasn't it? Yeh. Seem to remember he had 2 or 3 very good long ranged shots that game, was unlucky not to score.

http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=735715 It'll just be like everywhere with some nice parts and some not so nice. The centre is still mostly bollocks though, they've got the Bridges which is a new shopping centre but all the shops are tiny. It's like something off The Wicker Man walking round at times, but then again so is outside The Black Garter

FFS That is why i'm at Sunderland

Colo pls.

I go to Sunderland uni () but travel from Newcastle every day and I know loads of people that do. In general if people from outside the area want to go on a night out or out shopping they'll come through to Newcastle, it's only really the locals that try and tell everyone nightlife in Newcastle is s***. In my 3rd year now and I've been out in Sunderland a grand total of 3 times, it is appauling. There is a reason i'd never been over to Sunderland before I started uni You can just tell the whole place is on its arse, the centre is far closer to Wallsend or Shields highstreet than Newcastle, it really is a dive.
