I've got a mate who's just bought a house in Fox Street. He is a bit of a wrong'un like

Hello, I'm a Sunderland fan who was a season ticket holder for the reigns of Wilkinson, McCarthy, Bruce and now Poyet. Pleased to meet you. Edit: How could I forget O'Neill
-
Isn't it his job to coach the team ? Been there long enough now to at least have had an influence on how the team fucntions and what style of football they play. They're too busy trying to be nice to the fans by winning corners apparently. Half of what he's said makes no sense. I think what he's trying to say is that our fans get on the player's backs if they don't just lump it forward. It's true in some instances. However if we're 0-2 down at home to QPR and watching Bridcutt pass square between the two centre halves then the crowd is going to want more urgency. It's all very well having a passing game but when we only have 3 players in any attack then what's the point? We may as well smack it up to Wickham and hope Defoe can pick up the pieces. This is the beginning for me. I don't want the bloke sacked and hope he gets it right. Last night and his now sustained refusal to accept any blame for any problems we're having is beginning to irritate me.

I actually quite like him. He's a clever footballer, at times a good organiser and has more ability than he's given credit for. He looks a bit lightweight to play in this league though. For me he plays the holding role in a midfield three or not at all.
-
I'm avoiding any reports on the game for the minute but if he has said anything then this is my opinion word for word. How dare we expect to beat a team that hadn't gotten a point away from home all season, who've just lost their manager, without their top scorer to injury. Poyet got it spectacularly wrong tonight. Gomez and Wickham didn't seem to know who was playing on the left. The end result was that neither did. Meaning Isla and Phillips basically had free reign all first half. Bridcutt can't play in a two in the middle and Larsson was dominated by Henry, Fer and Barton.
-
You know how on occasion you look at people and say 'how are they getting paid that much to do that? I could do that easily' you say it but you don't really think it. Honestly tonight I could have played instead of him and I think I'd have done a better job. I watched this bloke misplace about 8 or 9 simple passes in 15 minutes. There's a reason for the hate
-
The fact that he sneaks a goal here and there doesn't make up for the fact that he's a nothing player 95% of the time. You don't play him just because you hope he might get a goal at some point. I think he's probably got more goals for Newcastle than he has in the rest of his career....

Nah Stevie G's farewell in the final man. Can see the pressure from the media to make it so influencing some big decisions. Hopefully Pards can do us a favour and knock them out next round.

Has Ashley ever done anything else ever?

Another group of fans ebing told "know your place" by the sounds of it. Im not sure why people follow football anymore when managres talk like this. See, I agree with this. Turn up, pay your money, watch crap. Unless you're one of the big teams. In which case don't even bother celebrating when your team goes 2-0 up in the fourth round of a cup. Football is screwed and I'm becoming more disillusioned by the day. Do I wish Quinn and Phillips were still around? Yes. Would I miss them as much if the football I'm currently watching wasn't turgid? Probably not. Look at Burnley, Southampton, West Ham. Showing a bit of ambition. Whether it's with their style of play or backing their manager. They're getting results. The media doesn't help either. Someone like us, yourselves, even Arsenal now for Gods sake. Get a result at Stamford Bridge and the Etihad and it's 'one the fans will remember for a long time'. I'd rather remember cup wins, going for the jugular and getting results. But I suppose that doesn't fit with the status quo.

Gardner should be playing in league one. He has no attributes apart from the ability to twat a football really really hard.
-
And Hull fans didn't want to believe us when we told them this would happen last season.
-
I do rather enjoy being in the Championship

Upgrade on Jozy. That's not saying anything though. Said that tongue in cheek. Difficult to convey through text.
-
Upgrade on Jozy. If he scores goals and we stay up the next couple of seasons I think he's worth it. Hopefully it means a change in approach. If we go two up top it might mean we push further up the pitch and press more from the front. If he plays as a lone striker with no one within 30 yards of him we're going down and be lumbered with an ageing striker on a fair wedge. Saying that I think we don't sign anyone unless they agree to a relegation wage drop these days. Very much in the wait and see camp at present.

He signed Buckley, Bridcutt, Van Aanholt for a combined circa £7m. The rest of his signings have been on frees or loans. Two of them look OK. Buckley is pretty gash. To say he's spent money is bollocks. In comparison to the rest of the league, probably Burnley aside he's had next to nothing. I'm not saying he's not making mistakes, and the football is pretty dire, without him we'd be down by now though. Forgot about Rodwell... Probably because he's never fit. Poyet out Scocco as well for around £3-4m Wasn't he a loan?

Poyet will have his bi-yearly whinge. It's to be expected now. I don't want him gone and his style of football is expected. As has been mentioned his hands are tied by the players he's got. He has to keep it tight. His back four is ageing badly. We're exceptionally vulnerable to pace. Van Aanholt the quickest of the lot was shown up defensively several times today by Markovic who I haven't been particularly impressed with so far. Good record against yourselves and the escape and cup run last season I'm willing to put up with a season of this provided we survive. It's like you say we're about where you are now. Survive and try not to have ambition. Short is well into FFP. One of the forerunners. I have no complaints with what he's trying to do at present. He's invested what he can, saw no return and quite rightly held back. Even then Poyet has had Buckley (McClean mark two) Bridcutt (believe he'll turn good) and the South Americans (I really like Vergini) He shouldn't go. I can see what he's trying to do. We knock it around. We get men behind the ball. We look to the likes of Johnson to create something. Bear in mind I was a season ticket holder during two record low point seasons this could be counted as progress. It's 3 in the morning. I'm pissed and about to pass out. Make of that what you will. I don't want Poyet gone.

I thought he was going to Chelsea and was going to be immediately loaned to Leicester. At least that's what I read. Against the rules apparently. Supposedly stopped us getting Zuccini from Man City
-
Watching this now and despite not scrapping like you'd expect a non league side to Dover have been made to look decent. They can't defend set pieces like.

Definitely related to Colback and Alnwick Not at all. Not related, not even ginger. But I do want to see a Geordie lad do well for my club, and he's the best prospect we've got, at the moment, of doing that. I just think that Colback is a Premiership quality midfielder, who we got for nothing, and I think that's a good deal. I'm prepared to back my opinion over any other on here. He replaced Cabaye who we sold for 20 million. By all accounts it was a s*** deal. He's exactly bang average at his absolute best and spends most of his time trying to get the ball back by chasing it around like a cocker spaniel. In your own tiny mind is Colback a replacement for Cabaye. Average Premiership quality for nowt, I'll settle for that thanks. Oh, and he's a Geordie. Mackem Wum?

Steve Bruce man                   Start off ok, then get generally worse to the point of being in the lower league. Then all the punidts telling us he is a "quality manager" despite never getting a team in the top half of the table. Excuse me. I'll have you know that he got lowly Sunderland to 10th. That's top half for you. He then proceeded to win something like two games in a calendar year and was sacked for being a Geordie. I'd love him to take over your lot, flirt with relegation after winning one in sixteen and see how he and his mates spin it in the press. 'I don't think the crowd is helping, I don't think they've ever really accepted me because I managed Sunderland' "Top half for you" Whut? Bruce is a Muckle failure, clogger at best. Top ten in the league is top half, yes? Unless I'm missing something. The previous poster said Bruce hadn't managed that before.

I need a drink but daresay we're doing it for different reasons. When you appoint Carver then I'll be in a celebratory mood
