In the back of the book, there will be a glossary which will show the page numbers for every club or person mentioned. You're welcome, neesy111.

We just have to continue to play like we have recently in the respect of attacking play. We can't go into this scared, protecting a one goal lead and the like. I'm not nervous for this game though that does usually come late on for me.

No way is it the end of his career. He'll get another chance in the Championship if he wants it and he'll get most clubs promoted for fun.
-
I think the quotes are faked but it wouldn't surprise me to hear him talk positively about NUFC. The sunderland one is almost too good to be true.
-
Ferguson has previously spoke of us as a sleeping giant. His wee club in the north east comment was out of character for him.
-
Just saw Vidals dive, what a fucking spanner.

I think the quotes in this thread are faked, though would love it for someone who's read it to confirm them.

It would be such a tough call to make though, sacking the manager who got you into the top flight. I can't imagine it would have went down well with the Palace fans either, unless the owners somehow managed to attract a big name to come in and replace him. The backlash from the fans could potentially be damaging also, and there's the possibility that negotiations to replace him stalled and they missed out on crucial signings. Actually, has any club in recent times sacked a permanent manager who has just gained them promotion? I can think of one...... Should have clarified, I mean without a competitive game in the higher division being played.

I rate Lampard higher than Gerrard but both have been world class for their clubs, without a shadow of a doubt. "Is he the best in the world? He might not get the attention of Lionel Messi and Ronaldo but yes, I think he just might be," said Zidane. "If you don't have a player like Steven Gerrard, who is the engine room, it can affect the whole team. "When we were winning league titles and European Cups at Real, I always said Claude Makelele was our most important player. There is no way myself, (Luis) Figo or Raul would have been able to do what we did without Claude and the same goes for Liverpool and Gerrard." "When Claude left us for Chelsea I campaigned for us to buy Patrick Vieira – and Gerrard is now in the same mould as him. "For many years Patrick was the most complete midfielder in the world and now that award must go to Gerrard." Zidane, who has recently been linked with a return to the Bernabeu to take on a consultant's role, insisted that Gerrard's influence on the rest of the squad is what makes him a true legend at Anfield. Taking nothing away from his talent as a player the Frenchman added: "No team will be successful without a heartbeat and you can see Gerrard is that heartbeat. "He has great passing ability, can tackle and scores goals, but most importantly he gives the players around him confidence and belief. You can't learn that – players like him are just born with that presence."

City turn it round. 2-1.

Used to like Holloway but his quirky quotes got boring fast. Fair enough if he's resigned but I don't think he could have done much better. It's a big ask of anyone to keep them up. I think it would have been worth staying, and to look to win promotion next year again.
-
Still think they'll finish top four. Arsenal have history in recent years of fizzing out so maybe they'll be up there to win the title also. Still a hell of a lot of football to be played. Just like the Sunderland thread, I think a few are blowing their loads prematurely.
-
His attitude since he came back has been brilliant but I wonder what it would have been like if there wasn't a World Cup looming. Irrelevant at the minute like as he's instrumental for us and our hopes of picking up points.
-
Can't doubt this lads ability and potential. I really rate him. He'll only get better.
-
Fantastic to see a Geordie lad turn out for the team, but to score as well.. Brilliant. Keep it up.

Ask them to revise their own definition of a fluke. Picked his spot and nailed it. If it bounced off a Liverpool players arse and changed direction totally, then you can call fluke. The contact from Cabaye on the ball was way too true to be calling fluke.

It's really frustrating how against the national team a few of the papers seem to be. Obviously if it is something serious, then it should be reported and dealt with correctly, but this was such a nothing story. I think they knew that as well.

I really liked Rafa. Tactically, a very switched on guy.

I'm not defending Pardew, just offering some thoughts on what his own thought process may have been at the time. In the end, it turned out that he called it wrong as Tevez was instrumental to keeping them up and both have since gone on to have very good careers turning out for some big clubs. I can see the reasoning, I wouldn't like players forced on to me, especially as they were both dodgy deals (and this was under scrutiny at the time of the transfers). I think he's learnt from his lessons at West Ham in all fairness to Pardew. He's been much less reluctant to play new signings from the off.
-
I think he had his nose pushed out at having 2 players forced on him at the last minute and simply didn't think Mascherano was up to playing the holding role, nor that Tevez would be enough of a threat up top.
-
Tevez did play, he just didn't play in what he calls his preferred "number 8 role". Mascherano was frozen out, but Tevez got pitch time under Pardew.
-
He might prefer the London life but I hope we're in for him as you'd like to think we are a bigger draw than Fulham. Would be a terrific option for us.

24 years old, 20 appearances in the Premiership, some as LB and some in his more natural position ... I think he will be afforded much more time and rightly so. A lot of potential there, if we're smart and pair him with the right defensive partner. But that goes for most centre backs, it's as much about being a unit as it is individual responsibility.
