Only way I can see Pardew resigning is if he cuts some sort of deal with Ashley for, say, half the compo he'd be owed if he was binned. That way he gets a decent wedge and gets to spin it that he was hounded out of the club by the fans unfairly. It doesn't matter whether that last part is true or not, that's how he would spin it and many people would believe it

Fact of the matter really is that unless you're in the top 6 (or to a lesser extent the relegation zone) then these pundits and commentators are clueless and ignorant and it's just the same old tripe getting recycled and regurgitated. Blame the owner, blame Cabaye, blame the fans for being too demanding. Pick your poison. It's the easy thing to do. They have no interest in Newcastle but have to talk about us so they whittle off the old cliches. I actually heard the commentator during the Soton game say that fans disliked Pardew because he wasn't from the area :eyeroll: That's why it's disappointing to me when someone like Shearer, who has a vested interest in the club, doesn't speak up more. He is in a position of influence on MOTD and yet he barely seems willing to criticize Pardew at all. I know he has a responsibility to be impartial but it's not like this is even a matter of opinion anymore really. The facts and statistics speak for themselves but aside from the odd article you barely hear it mentioned on TV or other mainstream media.

Not sure what that has got to do with what I said but I agree @Themanupstairs I don't really agree with your assessment of that at all but it's by the by, I was just pointing out one strange behaviour I've noticed in him recently but the general point is that his form has declined rapidly (which most people seem to agree with actually).

I think he has shown at least his work rate is solid so you could maybe see him creating space and opportunities for someone like Cisse simply by making good runs and dragging defenders out of position. It's crystal clear that this 4-4-1-1 we've been using isn't gonna work for him at least until De Jong is fit again though. The guy has been completely isolated in pretty much every game so far.

Colo in particular has been really poor imo. He seems to have developed this tendency to go charging out of position to close down balls when there is absolutely no need and players ahead of him able to deal with it. Leaves huge gaps in our defense and causes confusion for the other players. Williamson is barely a Premier League standard player and he was awful today but over the last 8 months or so I think he's been better than Coloccini at least.

What gets me is that he supposedly works on defensive shape four days a week in training and that's the end product
