I don’t think he is, I think he realises his team actually aren’t particularly good despite the hype and relegation would cost a whole lot more than the 20m MAX they lose next summer.

Given the lack of back up plan I’d be inclined to agree with what SP was told. As it doesn’t appear to have happening we’ve essentially taken a massive risk and lost. We are now heavily reliant on Eddie’ miracle making ability to keep the ship afloat until January where I’ve got no doubts they will try again.

Back soon only to be injured again the cycle will repeat as always. PS he’s probably the poster boy for a difficult decision deferred until he’s worthless.

Oh yeah, I didn’t mention the factors behind the stagnation because it wasn’t relevant to the overall. We simply can’t afford mistakes, last season demonstrated that perfectly, those mistakes have led to the current stagnation and yes, we almost qualified for conference league which would have been better than nothing but it wouldn’t have been enough to material change our financial position either. We have to be pushing for Cl, and that is obviously a massive challenge which has been made all the more difficult by decisions made over the last 12 months at least.

We are absolutely are in a bind and our growth is definitely slow, but these rules for the most part have been in place for awhile they’ve gone into this eyes wide open. Our response has been to be good little pupils and not be confrontational. From a recruitment standpoint we’re shown an absolute steadfast determination to shop in the most expensive market in the world and complain about prices; nufc tax etc. I think we should accept that yes things are difficult but at certain stages we haven’t helped ourselves we haven’t been savvy as an organisation and we are now in a bit of treacle. We stagnated last season and it’s looking like another season of little progress as things stands (very early days admittedly). Im not in a position to dish out blame; I’ve got no idea what has been discussed and agreed but I think it’s quite obvious something isn’t right internally.

Pretty much, I mean obviously we have some funds to add another player of that calibre this window, we’ve just goofed it in the most naive way possible. The rest holds true to me, me and you have both been banging the drum that if we aren’t growing quicker than the sky 6 we are falling behind the January window really demonstrated this, we were basically at a standstill and we couldn’t do anything. I’m still left wondering what the long term strategy is because the actions don’t make the grandiose statements and we shouldn’t blame the fans for being upset with what they’ve told was going to happen. Back to Mitchell, it’s absolutely fascinating what’s taking place, of course we never have the full picture so we are left making assumptions but I do recall reading we approached him before Dougie and he turned us down because he wasn’t certain about his role, if true I wonder what changed his mind and if he has any regrets.

Good points ON. I actual think we don’t know how to navigate our predicament, after all we are the first club to run into this challenge. We want to compete but the rules forbids it from happening. We have to innovate and box clever to progress now and on the surface it doesn’t appear we are well equipped to do so. We’ve basically kicked all of the difficult decisions into the future and it’s starting to catch up with us.

This isn’t accurate, we know when Ashworth was put in his gardens his duties were split between Nickson and Eales, I also fail to see how someone who was put in his gardens months ago explains the absolute shit shoe we are witnessing. We won’t ever find out exactly what has transpired so we are left to speculate. Personally I find it hard to believe the approach we’ve taken to the window wasn’t agreed by all parties. To focus so much time and energy on a sole target with seemingly no back up tells me they were absolutely convinced they’d get Guehi l, this same approach has also led to them looking massively incompetent.
-
I don’t think this has anything to do with Dirty Dan who is self declared not a transfer guy so I don’t think it’s that. It seems like poor planning, over confidence from the transfer teams side, if we truly have no alternatives at all and the window closes with us signing a nothing player like Trafford it tells me they were absolutely convinced they’d have Guehi done and have been absolutely mugged off by Parish.
-
I’m fine with that in isolation personally but the narrow focus on right centre back is mad given our situation at right wing. so fair enough, they get the benefit of the doubt, but that doesn’t excuse not strengthening our other glaring weakness. Im kinda at a loss for the level of incompetence on display this window.
-
Btw lads, make sure you support the club by getting into stacked nice and early on Sunday, btw we will be dropping more adidas merch, don’t forget to pick it up.
-
We’re about to find out real soon if we work through a list of targets or not
-
1, they are going to brief that at this stage. 2, if we are moving down the list I expect us to sign someone in accordance with that in mind and it’s not looking likely. 3, Mitchell is in the same position as Ashworth , he knows Eddie is untouchable and has more input than he probably should but he can’t do much about it at this stage.
-
I know we love Eddie I do too but given the turbulence of the summer I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Guehi or nobody was his way of getting some reassurance about still having his say on transfers mind. Especially given he has an exit route in the form of England.
-
Officially radio silence with briefings via Caulkin and Waugh about not settling keeping powder dry and having a terrific group with tonalis energy being like a new signing.
-
Not defending hope here, but it seems like the role isn’t functional. Eddie’s input should be in the form of what kind of attributes he’s looking at for a certain role. If the system is Eddie wants x so we go and get x then it simply isn’t for purpose or for the long term benefit of the club.
-
Woof. The briefing wars begin.
-
They’ve definitely seen a bunch of mugs and made the absolute most out of it. Win win for Stevie P.
-
Accept the inevitability and come to the dark side
-
It’s a silly comparison at the basic level, Vvd was as close to a flawless cb as you could find, Mark Guehi for his strengths is even close and has the obvious flow of being pretty weak in the air. Also, the league has move on from when Liverpool bought VVD it’s much more competitive now and as many others have pointed out , standing still and waiting around is going backwards
-
You know it’s bad when wor kaka is reaching for the pampers mind.
-
If we are to believe downie (I know I know) he stated we had blinked and increase our offer to the 65 + 5 which they asked for 2 weeks ago so we’ve already blinked once if it’s to be believed
-
The rolling 3 year won’t be a thing next season
-
It’s a bit silly this post tbh, we’ve signed good players with Howe calling the shots. We will never know exactly what’s gone on but I’d hazard a guess the blame doesn’t solely rest with the gaffa.
-
Get your pampers ready because Guehi is off and we haha no back up plan.
