No Miggy hate here, but unfortunately squad places are limited and money needs to be brought in for obvious reasons. In order to go to the next level some players who we like will have to move on.
-
He’s on double our top earner. He’s out of our price range.
-
Not saying he doesn’t want to come, I’m sure he does. But he wont suffer by staying another year at palace mind. He then goes next summer for say 40m, doubles his wage at least with a release clause or runs it down and the sky’s the limit he will have suitors all over Europe if he’s free.
-
Supposedly he does but I’m sure he’d feel the same if one of the sky six called as well. Unless something changes which is earth shaking I’m not sure how we get past the glass ceiling of psr tbh, but that’s discussion for another thread
-
Why would it be? He either signs a new deal on more money with a release clause or he goes next summer to a club like Liverpool who are currently a step ahead of us.
-
At less than 1/3 of Guehi too.
-
Nah, if we don’t get him on it’s on us.
-
60-70m as per the athletic.
-
Yes and no, yes it’s important we resolved that urgent and immediate need, it’s also important to understand we’ve lost a player for 15m who id argue is worth more than that and also could be worth more in future. In addition we gained what appears to be a liability who isn’t cheap and will be difficult to shift.
-
Yeah I put a bit more respect on the Athletic when it comes to these matters than most publications. It kinda went from we surely wouldn’t give them 20m to we fucking did
-
Listening to the athletic podcast which was recorded on Monday and according to Ornstein he’s not aware of Palace responding to our 60 + 5 offer.
-
The athletic today in a piece about Anderson stated we paid 20m for vlad, I linked the quote in my original post.
-
He just keeps repeating players we have on some long list, logical links if anything. I doubt the club is telling them ought other than we wouldn’t mind a centre half.
-
I think it matters as Vlad isn’t free and we are paying for him but fair enough.
-
Yeah they are, nothing is been broken by the reporters reporting on us.
-
Interesting thought but I think the commitment to migrate to squad cost seems pretty set. It’s also important to remember these rules were designed by the clubs themselves, ultimately most of the owners are business people who would love nothing more to reduce cost and increase profit which is what these rules will do.
-
To be fair, he seems to violate the no dickhead policy which we have and I imagine all support?
-
IF the fee is the reported 20m we know how it reflects in our books, it’s just the fee divided by the contract length. Of course forest recognise that revenue away too.
-
I don’t think that’s being ignored at all. Hence my references to other clubs PSR workarounds generally being a more like for like nature. (Academy player for academy player).
-
Because he’s not free and we are paying his salary and amortising the supposed 20m fee. Because the clubs actions generally merit discussion hence this forums existence?
-
Yeah it strikes me as a bit of last minute panic we need to pick some off this list of players we don’t know much about let’s go with the guy with the best record on paper. I think we’ve shown a bit of naivety tbh, we clearly knew about our FFP issue so I’m surprised we weren’t more proactive in addressing it.
-
Of this list only Archer, (buy back clause) Philogene and Clarke are comparable. Of those two they haven’t played much in the premier league. Also, Vlads salary has to be offset compared to Anderson which likely means we are paying slightly more on a weekly basis.
-
Transfer market dear me. He’s still young and clearly has both ability and potential, it’s also worth remembering he was always a bit part player who never really found his true place in the side. don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he’s a world beater or anything but he got himself a premier league move Brighton also were interested according to the athletic. Of course he’s a consequence of the position we found ourselves in all we can hope is we manage our sales better in the future. and obviously the large concern is we have got a player in return who is probably costing us 7m a year who we won’t be able to shift
-
15m is poor going for someone with actual top flight experience decorated at practically all youth levels for England and obviously has promise mind. if you look at other clubs FFP workaround deals they were all basically youth player for youth player nobody loses deals basically. We’ve managed to make a deal whereby we are the loser imo.

35m for him is a great deal, 15m is not. This shouldn’t be difficult to follow.
