  1. Waugh has dropped a quota filing piece on the athletic for those with nothing else better to do.
  2. Pretty much, all clubs are basically on the hunt for the safe profile it’s part of the reason why we have so much trouble shifting our squad players, people would rather take the chance on a younger player who will improve, average players at their peak? Not so much.
  3. Our scouts are definitely good but all of these players have been on other clubs radars as well mind.
  4. Makes sense as it’s basically lawyers who wouldn’t want to risk leaking anything for obvious reasons.
  5. We don’t know the verdict yet. It’s also interesting that we were meant to have more sponsors lined up but still nothing has been announced I wonder if these two issues are related.
  6. Here have a player we don’t want and haven’t wanted since we bought him and we’ll throw you 20m as a sweetener.
  7. I was just thinking, as we are moving to squad cost the season after next it takes away the 3 year rolling period (if I’m not wrong). Now I’m no accountant but if I’m not mistaken this effectively nerfs selling players for FFP purposes. Because you get the sale proceeds in one financial year but you can’t go out and spend all of the proceedings in one year as you will suffer in your amortisation costs in the following years, so unless you’ve grown your revenue to offset the additional costs you have to sell again. if my understanding is correct.
  8. It’s fine for them, they have massive revenues. Steeling is in 350k
  9. Agree but you make a massive chunk which can be utilised to improve the rest of the squad. The Grealish sale transformed Villa, without that headroom they would have had nothing. That being said, I don’t want us to let him go at any price, I just see the logic to the club doing so.
  10. No upgrade exists imo.
  11. This isn’t really the is it? The thing called PSR/FFP makes basically anyone skirting the line vulnerable to selling players they don’t want to sell.
  12. I think we would, it’s double what we paid after all. I feel he’s worth more to us but I can’t see us getting much more.
  13. It’s not even really about success sadly, it’s just pure profit and loss and increasing revenue. Look at Leicester they were successful and still fell foul. It’s just a bullshit system designed to maintain the status quo.
  14. Agree, they will be casting the net wide at first to see what comes back.
  15. Chill kaka, we bought hall and it was heralded. Things are a bit more nuanced man.
  16. I don’t think we could take 3 players from them and fill the void tbh.
  17. I think other teams smell blood given our FFP situation. Legit better off taking points deductions than selling our jewels on the cheap.
  18. Todd you really can’t afford it.
  19. Disagree, at the time of that sale we still had Isak, Gordon, Big Joe and Little Joe who could play on the left. The pickings are a lot slimmer on the right.
  20. I think it hinges on the legal action currently being taken, seems like a vote to loosen the rules is unlikely at this stage.
  21. Now this is a sentiment I don’t share, I think everything is working as intending as far as the overall consensus is concerned, if anything they want and will be getting even tighter financial controls.
  22. From all I’ve read the points deduction Everton got came as a shock to most of the league, it definitely feels like that moment was one which changed the entire league’s calculations. It’s very easy for us on the outside to comment and pick at things but I think being in the situation and having to make decisions certainly narrows the focus. I’m sure this is something we can all relate to as well.
  23. European agents love using us to try and move players I wouldn’t put too much emphasis on it unless it comes from reliable sources over here.
  24. The club certainly won’t be telling us about what they didn’t do, no club does so of course an element of conjecture is involved. personally, I wasn’t against Barnes signing, I think he’s a very good player, I’m not sure he’s what we needed last summer though.
