Re Hall, we haven’t actually spent anything yet so that’s fine. if you wait for the right target to come along you basically never buy anyone, we aren’t really in a position to do that. Imagine if Olise was our right target we waited on for example? Given FFP we actually should be trying to trade aggressively so we can keep some headroom in hand.

Yes we do, we spent x on Barnes and didn’t spend x on a left back or right winger. If we go back a year most of this forum wanted those positions filled as a priority.
-
Don’t get me wrong, I see your point but ultimately buying Barnes left us short in over areas (obviously this isn’t Barnes fault himself). I think sometimes things are a bit more nuanced than goal contributions as well.
-
He’s barely played, I find it very difficult to judge if he’s been a good signing or not at this point. People will question Barnes in particular because the position wasn’t a priority and we’ve probably bought at the peak and he’s not the kind of player who will say double in value.

I guess we aren’t that marketed worldwide then (I had to google Weston as I’ve never heard of them ).

Had a quick peek in an adidas store on Johor Bahru (Malaysia) yesterday. Saw a few other elite bracket shirts but not ours.
-
I very much doubt it as it’s impossible to prove we weren’t. Minteh is a hot young prospect with multiple suitors and DCL is a player we’ve been linked with for awhile. @SUPERTOON I wonder if DCL’s demand were the block as he’s on his last year and might be looking for a big final payday elsewhere.
-
As much as I dislike myself for saying this but the proposed nature of the deal means inflated prices make sense for both parties.
-
That’s how I read what he said too. That being said as things stand the PL had no rules covering these kind of deals as fas as I’m aware.
-
Ornstein mentioned that the mooted deal was meant to be dcl @mid to high 30’s with Minteh at low to mid 30’s.

Daily mail link so not clicking but I imagine the state is picking up some of the bill.

I’m guessing we budgeted for some form of European football and having missed out we are in a bit of a pinch. That being said; if someone wants to give daft money for Minteh you have to take it. But of course those funds have to be deployed well.

We will be playing less games this season and I’m sure nobody wants to suffer another season of watching Almiron starting. We can still improve our first team and this should be the focus. Also, if Minteh is to be sold let’s make sure his position is improved. Absolutely nothing wrong with DCL and Kilman but as I said yesterday, I don’t want to hear the club crying about FFP when we keep shopping in waitrose for squad players at that.

This, the training ground and the slowness regarding planning for SJP in general gives me the Impression the club is a legit investment for PIF and not a sports washing program where they will lavish billions. Time will tell of course but it’s something to keep in mind.
-
As I posted when this came to light, our position should have been simple. The price is fixed and any crying in public about it will increase the price by 1 mill per time.
-
I think one of the most frustrating aspect of this is the sheer amount of money left on the table by the lack of low hanging sponsors we somehow didn’t sign up since the takeover.

Please be true

I think the particular grievance in this case is the players we’ve been linked with since, people are interpreting this as sell someone with high potential to bring in mid table players who won’t improve much and will be depth/rotation options.
-
Me either, so many of the rules seems to be either restraint of trade or anti competitive to me.
-
Aye minteh was bought as an FFP flip I’ve got no doubts about it, it’s a shame as it appears his potential is significant. one of the interesting aspects of FFP is it’s basically destroyed the value of your average player who won’t get better, the entire market wants to buy upcoming players with potential. It’s why we’ve had so many issues shifting anyone.
-
We aren’t getting 40m. It will be 20+ in total. If we’ve done this to buy an injury prone player who has probably peaked already I’m not sure what to say. I truly don’t understand how the club is navigating FFP. Most clubs have moved on from buying average premier league players at peak prices, maybe we should take note.

Iirc Napoli offered them 35m euro last summer which they knocked back as well.

Don’t want to hear us crying about FFP when we insist on shopping in waitrose.

Yeah I get that, it just makes no sense for Everton to agree to it. Upside capped at 25m.
