Everyone had one eye on Liverpool at half time, nearly paid for it. On balance though it's a massive win and keeps our hunt for CL football alive. Reckon we'll go and get a result on Wednesday now.

It feels more important the right Newcastle turns up than who we get in the draw right now. I'd bet on us beating anyone if we turn up and play like we have at times this season. Likewise if the other Newcastle turns up we don't stand a chance against any of them 😂. I don't want to get ahead of myself until we play our next away game but you could feel the confidence in the side last night. If we can produce a solid away performance this weekend that will hopefully get that monkey off the players backs and the confidence can snowball.

Definitely Longstaff off for Tonali, I'd maybe give Willock 10 mins to see if he comes back out any better. I don't think we're playing badly, we have let that goal against the run of play rattle us. Hopefully HT we can regroup.

That feels like a really important win.

Hall and Willock the standout so far. Isak and Gordon both having poor games by their standards. Other than one lapse defending a set piece this has been a good away performance against a well drilled and in form side. Tonali for Longstaff and keep the Willock/Joelinton setup.

The timing of our goal plays a part in this. We spent much of the game defending a lead rather than chasing.

Really enjoyed watching Havertz have an awful time.

Who'd have thought the two Joe's on the left was the missing piece over the last 18 months. Also Lewis Hall, take a bow. Saka pocketed for 90 mins - not an easy feat.

Oh I agree. Whilst it may solve one issue defensively it just creates a different one. The hole our midfield leaves in front of the defense currently is an alarming issue that needs resolving though.

When Botman is back I think Eddie will stick with 433 and return Burn to LB. He's limited there but allows Botman to step up and cut out passing lanes left open when our midfield presses high centrally. Getting Botman back to his pre-injury form is so important if we're to continue with Eddie's current approach.

Gutted about this. Willock is very dangerous on the transition and played a big part in our counter attacking tactics during the 22-23 season. Hopefully he's back soon.

This will be tricky. Long way to travel and these have been a bit of a bogey team of late. Keep it tight and if we can get Gordon in the game I'm hoping we can nick it. We'll need Burn to follow up on last week with another good show and hopefully Joelinton bang up for an away day battle.

When he starts up front it's like we're playing 3-4-2-0. The only contribution he makes is winning aerial duels and constantly trying to find space, even then though he almost never finds a teammate and just ends up giving possession away.

Thought he was quite lively today, unlucky to be wrongfully ruled offside when he was through on goal in the second half. If he was playing with Yedlin instead of Manq today we might have seen a bit more output.
